I can't keep quiet any more. I've been giving the benefit of the doubt about how USA Table Tennis conducted business recently but this is too much. As a profess...ional coach, I have to speak up. I have been coaching Victor Liu since he was a kid. I'm very proud of him for his performance. He finished 2nd at the Pan Am Trial earlier this year. At the just finished Worlds in Hungary, as a third seed in the preliminary group in Men's Singles, he upset legendary Segun Toriola of Nigeria, 133 in the World, and Kanate Ali of Côte d'Ivoire. In fact, Victor was the only US player making the main draw in Men's Singles from the preliminary round. Victor told me that Jörg, Stefan, and another player had a meeting with him after the Worlds regarding the 2019 Pan Am Games. Well, according to Victor, it was not quite a meeting. Jörg basically gave them the talk. Three of them just listened. Jörg told them that although Stefan was confident in Victor of his performance at the 2016 World Championships, Jörg felt that Victor's performance wasn't steady. In addition, he hasn't seen Victor playing doubles much. Jörg also mentioned there were other considerations such as World rankings. In my opinion, Jörg had made up his mind and was basically telling Victor that he was out of the contention of the 2019 Pan Am Games although not in so much words. Victor told me that he didn't feel comfortable at the time but wouldn't dare to speak up to express his desire to play at the 2019 Pan Am Games. I am furious. First, what does Victor have to prove that he's ready to play for the USA? His performance at the Pan Am Trial and Worlds speak for themselves. Secondly, this could jeopardizes my career. Victor has been one of my best students. His recent performance says it all. How am I going to face Victor and other students? Do I have to kiss up Jörg to have my students selected? As I've said, I'm furious. However, I don't think I can fully fathom the potential disappointment of Victor and his parents if Victor doesn't make the 2019 Pan Am Teams. I will personally apologize to Jörg and USATT if my interpretation of the meeting was wrong and Victor makes the team. Please help me understand the whole situation. I don't think USATT has been fair or even logical for a while.

Halloween party
