The City of Fresno updated their listing of essential businesses and services. It now reads Healthcare providers doctors, dentists, mental health professionals, nurses, optometrists, hospice, etc. should follow the guidance of the California Department of Public Health, the Fresno County Department of Public Health and their respective licensing authorities. We will be reopening soon. We continue to follow shelter in place rules that are currently in effect and encourage you to do the same. These orders now extend thru May 31. We remain open for Urgent, Emergency, and Acute eye health conditions. We ask for your patience as routine eye care services are classified as non essential in the State of California and are... subject to Shelter in Place orders. If you are an emergency health worker and do not have eye wear let us know. We will make sure you have the resources you need. We are also planning a tiered approach to reopening asking that high risk patients with current eye wear that is still working delay until later stages. We are preparing to reopen for routine care soon! To ensure your safety and ours Masks will be REQUIRED. They must cover both your nose and mouth at all times while in our facility.

So yesterday was week 2 of the Great COVID-19 Shutdown of 2020. To let everyone know. I am still available if you have an urgent or emergency eye health related issue. If you are an emergency health worker I will also do everything I can to make sure you have workable eye wear to perform your job. I am at the office 9-5 M-F. If I don't answer its usually because I'm on the other line. Leave a message and I will return your call. All routine, non emergency eye care, glasses d...ispensing, etc is suspended. If you need contacts please contact me here at the office. We can mail them directly to you. I cannot do adjustments, repairs, dispensing or any routine eye care at the office. Routine eye care in California was NOT deemed essential. I am often asked if we are scheduling or if we have any idea when we will be able to resume care. I do not. We are closed based on CDC recommendations, American Optometric Association recommendations, California Optometric Association recommendations, and the Stay in Place orders from the State of California and City of Fresno. All of these things will need to get lifted for us to be able to resume care. We are not idle. I am making preparations for us to resume care and maintain the safety of all of our patients and staff. We have never been a high volume practice and never will be. This makes social distancing easier. We will have additional precautions ready and waiting before we reopen.
