Another yearly tradition, Valentine’s Day, will be a bit different this year.

What’s most important to us is that the community knows that we loved our 14 years there, and that we will miss them, said manager Crystal Dossman. We appreciate them letting us in.

On Nov. 18, the district made the decision to remove Rem Scherzinger as general manager, a position he’d held since July. Interim General Manager Brian Wright has filled the role since then, and on Feb. 3 the board approved a motion to begin publicly advertising for the position.

COLUMN: Cutting down a neighbor’s trees to improve your view of Lake Tahoe or otherwise always shocks me especially because under California law it can be quite expensive for the wrongful tree cutter.

A storm moving in Thursday afternoon is expected to drop over a foot of snow and could affect the evening commute and also holiday weekend travel.

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows received a foot of snow, and Homewood Mountain Resort and Sugar Bowl each received about 8 inches. South and east of the lake the storm dropped a couple of inches. Sierra-at-Tahoe and Diamond Peak Ski Resort each received 1 inch of snow.

COLUMN: Sam met Helen in 1895 when she was but 14 years old, and corresponded with her until the end of his life in 1910. He convinced his friend Henry Rogers to finance Helen’s schooling at Radcliffe, and Helen became the first person without sight to earn a bachelor of arts degree in America.
