When I reflect about my career as an attorney, Andy Chavez easily comes to mind as one of the most important cases I have ever handled. Not only was this my first felony trial, but he was also facing 6 life charges !!! From the start he refused to take anything less than a dismissal because he was innocent. After being in custody for almost 2 years, he could have taken a deal that would have ensured he would eventually be out-something going to trial could never guara...ntee. Days leading up to trial, I recall begging him to take the deal because juries can be so unpredictable. He was brave and courageous and believed we would win. Trial lasted almost 4 weeks and on the day the verdicts came down we walked out of Pomona Superior Court TOGETHER (and headed straight to Jack in the Box to cure the curly fry envy he had during trial )!!!
