Check out @cs.trainingacademy and sign up for class. * LET’S GO!!! * *... * Shorty-N-Me was created especially for children ages 1-4 who are not quite ready to take a structured dance class on their own but love to dance and could use a creative outlet outside of the home. We allow one adult to join the child in class in order to give the child a comfortable and familiar environment. *Limit 1 Adult per 1 paid Shorty are allowed in class

They are a performing toddler Hip Hop crew that focuses on Fun, Foundation and Family. I want to take a moment to thank two people who have helped me keep this program alive: Marilen Avila Tran and Paul Reed. Being a full-time working mom, who home-schools and has to chase after 4 kids and their crazy Taekwondo, Baseball and Basketball schedules, while trying to maintain a dance class, is not always easy (or even possible!). Marilen and Paul have always had my back and stepped up to fill in when my schedule conflicted. If it wasn't for them, I'm not sure this program would have survived this long. Thank you, M&P. I'm so excited to announce that our class will be featured on KFMB on Friday February 16 at 7 am. We are looking for parents and teachers to meet us there that day for a "mock" class which be recorded for broadcast later that morning. Please message me if you'd like to participate. If you have a new baby, who is too young to take my class, try out this BabyGaroove class Culture Shock Dance Center every Sunday at 10:30 am, taught by the incredible Christiana Behnke! I may just put my two year old in a carrier just to have an excuse to take the class!

Since it's October, you're welcome to bring your shorties in their Halloween costumes to class all month long....or actually, all year long, whatever. We welcome costumes EVERY DAY!!!

I created a closed Facebook group called "SHORTYNME CABARET GROUP". If you're dancing with us in a couple of weeks, please shoot over a request for me to add you. I will be posting various information and practice videos, etc. leading up to the show. We will not be using any of the children's names in this group.

Ms. Marilen will be teaching the entire medley for Shorty N Me's Cabaret performance this Tuesday at 4:30pm. We will warm up, stretch, go across the floor and then start learning the choreography. Hope to see you there! Cabaret is on Saturday, March 5th and Sunday, March 6th.

Sorry I had to miss class today but half of my house is sick so Mom duties prevailed. We will pick right back up next Saturday and keep things super simple.

Here are a few things to know about our program: 1. Chaos vs. Structure: we focus on the growth and expression of the kids. Sometimes that means structure and sometimes that means chaos. Either way, it's OK! As parents, we are already flexible to our children's needs. We make sure that translates in the studio. Keep in mind that even when it is chaotic, the instructors are still in control and are welcoming of it as long as it is respectful and safe. Sometimes you need a litt...le crazy to bring out the creative! 2. Love vs. Hate. Not all kids love us right away - but eventually they do. All children have their own level of comfort they need to reach before they open up. This is where the parents have to be patient and open-minded. IT'S OK if your child clings to your leg the first class or two. There is a lot going on: A crazy lady telling them what to do (instructor), new kids, music and a new environment - oh and that chaos bit again. While some kids adjust immediately, it's unreasonable to expect all of them to do so right away and we respect that. The only thing we ask is for you as a parent to give them time. You will be pleased with the results once they get comfortable. Our success rate is 100% in this area Sadly, we've seen in too many instances where the parents leave class but only due to their own anxieties. Take a deep breath and let your children have that time to acclimate. 3. Encourage vs. Insist. We NEVER EVER force you or your child to participate in an activity unless you're both ready. We purposely include a variety of activities in the class to appeal to everyone! Some activities are dance-related, some are not. We realize that expecting this age group to dance for a straight hour is unrealistic so we mix things up a bit for their enjoyment. Some kids pick and choose their favorite activities based on their personalities and we love that. Some are excited to perform solos at the end of class and some want nothing to do with them. BOTH instances are perfectly fine we wouldn't force or judge those who don't want to do it. Not all Shorties are alike and we are flexible enough to adjust accordingly. 4. Little Shorties vs. Big Shorties. Older siblings of your shorties are always welcome to join us! We realize that part of the "getting comfortable" process may need to include some familiar faces. We love all the shorties no matter how old they are! Thanks for reading this. Now go dance with your Shorties!
