Please check out my latest blog about trauma: When I complete an assessment, I ask people about the trauma they’ve had in their lives, and although many use the word often in their vocabulary to describe an upsetting event, it’s not uncommon for them to tell me that they’ve not had any. Trauma can be defined as a serious injury or shock to the body, an emotional wound or shock that creates substantial, lasting damage to the psychological development of a person, or an event that causes great distress and disruption. It’s the last part of that definition that applies to all of us, because many things happen in life that create distress and disruption. Read more at... http://www.sheilaheddenlcsw.com/Trauma1.html

Whatever the number, people who have A.D.H.D., and people who live with them can be greatly impacted. Read more at... http://www.sheilaheddenlcsw.com/ADHD1.html See more

My latest blog: Depression People often ask me whether the sadness they feel is normal or a symptom of depression. They wonder whether they should seek help or get on medication. The answer to that usually depends on whether there are other symptoms, and how long the symptoms have been present. How severe the symptoms are is also important in making this determination. My latest blog: Anxiety As I pondered about the topic of my first blog, I noticed feelings of anxiety related to putting myself out there in the internet world. I worried about how to write it and how it would be perceived by others. I fretted over making the commitment to continue it, because after all, you can’t just write one or two blog entries to be effective. I kept wondering which mental health topic would have the most impact, and that’s when it hit me. I would begin writing about something that all people struggle with in varying degrees, including myself, anxiety. Read More... http://www.sheilaheddenlcsw.com/Blog-1.html
