This week in Mount Shasta it's supposed to stay mostly cloudy, in the high 40s all week until Thursday, when there finally may be snow! Mount Shasta has been listed as one of the "Best Secret Ski Towns of North America" by National Geographic! Check out their article. http://adventure.nationalgeographic.com//best-secret-ski/... Even though the Ski Park isn't open, our Ice Rink is! The cool, dry weather has been great for our local ice rink, but it is even better for Castle Lake. Every few years Castle Lake freezes over thick enough to skate on! Local hockey teams and skaters big and small enjoy this natural treat. If you have your own skates this is the place to go! Caution: because this is a natural event, the ice thickness can vary because of weather conditions. Before skating on Caste Lake check with our local Forestry Department, they core the ice and check the thickness for safety. If outdoor adventures are not your thing, this week there are a few fun indoor local events! On the 8th is Blues and Brews at the Mount Shasta Brewing Company in Weed. Enjoy local live Blues, starting at 7pm with local brews and great food! At the Mount Shasta Library on the 6th is an art exhibit featuring "Music Posters From The 1960s Music Renaissance." This exhibit is showing from Jan 6th until April the 5th. Also this week on the 11th, is the 9th annual Winter Wildland's Alliance Backcountry Film Festival from 5:30 to 9:30 pm, at Sisson Museum, 1 N Old Stage Rd, Mount Shasta.
