Shasta Lake rainbow trout fishing is hit and miss with very short bite periods. Not sure if there is an afternoon bite because I've been home before 11:00 ever...y day the past few weeks. Fishing is ok, but the heat is a bit much out there right now. Great finish today with a great big rainbow for Veronica. We were trolling a Trinidad Tackle Company Optimizer Jr. (New favorite spoon) coated with Pautzke Bait Company Crawfish Fire Gel. Our biggest fish are still coming from the top 30' of the lake. Our Captains checked in this afternoon and report a bit of an improved bite on Shasta Lake for rainbow trout. Not red hot, but a definite improvement from last... weeks action. Trinidad Tackle Company Popped eye spoons and Brad's Killer Fishing Gear KCP's took most of the bites, although its fair to say thats about all they used today to get bites. Captain Justin Thompson checked in today and reported a slow start on Shasta Lake, but a late morning bite saved the day! We don't always get the bites we want... as soon as we drop lines in the water, but if everyone keeps a positive attitude and keeps their head in the game, we usually find our bites by the end of the trip.
