Meet our new hospital manager, Andrew! Andrew is a California native who has made San Francisco home since 2004. After moving to the Bay Area, he completed a program with the National Holistic Institute where he became a Certified Massage Therapist and learned about integrative approaches for health care such as body work and acupressure. He has worked in veterinary medicine since 2009 in various roles including veterinary assistant, client services, as well as many leade...rship roles. His love for animals and a desire to work with a diverse and caring team of individuals made Healthy Pets the perfect place to call his home away from home. Here at Healthy Pets he oversees all management, human resources, and operations for the hospital. Andrew’s pet family includes Ziggy Stardust, a loving senior Terrier mix, as well as Albear, a young exuberant Husky/Shepard mix. The boys love their walks through Golden Gate park just as much as cuddling up in a sunny spot and relaxing at home. Outside of work Andrew enjoys a healthy obsession with competitive softball traveling across the US for tournaments throughout the year.
Even though this year has been ghoulish, we hope everyone will take the extra precautions for fellow humans as well as their pets. Halloween should be full of treats, the occasional trick and plenty of adorable pet Halloween costumes filling your social media feeds. Please do check out: https://www.halloween2020.org/... to see further information on how to celebrate Halloween SAFELY. Have a safe and spook-tacular rest of the month! (Photo from Chewy)
From Oct. 11-17, we are celebrating National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week! Each year National Veterinary Tech Week serves to spotlight the profession and show gratitude to those special vet techs serving the needs of animals and supporting veterinarians. Vet techs are versatile and highly-trained experts. Compared to human medicine, a vet tech can serve as a laboratory technician, a respiratory therapist, a dietician, a nurse, a radiation tech, an anesthesiologis...t, and a physical therapist in a single role. Everyone likes to be appreciated for their work and National Vet Appreciation Week is a great time to say thank you to vet techs who work alongside veterinarians to care for your pet’s health. Please join us in thanking our super star Vet Tech team!
Our October Birthday Celebrants! We hope everyone have a month full of treats and no tricks!

Happy Friday! We hope everyone a relaxing weekend, just like our little hippo, Katori! #healthypetsveterinaryhospital #healthypets
Please be aware, we're not the only ones affected by this hazardous air quality; our pets are also affected by this. Minimize taking longer walks with your pets, keep them indoors as much as possible, and keep the windows closed. We hope all of y'all are staying safe during these times.

We hope that everyone is staying safe not only from COVID but also from the poor air quality due to the wildfires. "The biggest danger to your dogs when breathing wildfire smoke comes from fine particles, which can reach deep into the lungs and cause a variety of health issues from burning eyes to chronic congestion. To keep your dog safe from the smoke-laden air, the best thing to do is keep them inside! But that’s not all." Check out this article to learn more about what ...you can do to protect your furry loved ones during this unfortunate time. Please stay safe out ! When the air quality is poor, keep your dog indoors as much as possible. Extra couch snuggles with your furry loved ones are never a bad idea!

As we enter another week, we want to update our amazing clients: 1. All general practitioners are booked for a few weeks out with appointments. Most, including us, have blocked some time for urgent cases with all doctors which are often scheduled the same day. This means same day needs are in high demand and if you have an existing appointment there's a large chance we'll be running behind. We are drastically limiting the number of new clients/patients but still face the fact... that seeing existing clients is a challenge. Also, we have limited the number of annual/wellness exams daily to make room for more urgent needs. 2. Face coverings are REQUIRED when coming to pick up medication, bringing your pet for a technician, or doctor appointment. If you forget or do not have one we can give you one; however, if you are not covering your mouth and nose you will be asked to do so before receiving services or speaking with a staff member. With some exceptions, we ask that you and your pet be outside and in front of the hospital when your pet is coming in for services or being returned at the end. It is not expected for staff to go into your vehicle. This is for your well being and our staff. 3. HP is committed to keeping everyone, as safe as possible, while still providing exceptional services to you all. Please keep in mind all of our staff care for each of you and your furry loved ones, but they also care for their own families both young and old, well or medically challenged. We ask that you remain patient and aware of your direct impact into the compassion fatigue experienced by veterinary teams worldwide when engaging with staff at any juncture. The ultimate goal is to assist you and your pet. As always, stay safe and well. We will get through this together.
