The world has lost a true warrior of transgender rights and movement, Monica Roberts. Monica is a national figure who created awareness in the media of issues impacting her very own community which included the high risk of violence faced by trans women of color and will be best known for groundbreaking journalistic reporting on the blog- TransGriot, a blog that is dedicated to telling stories from the trans community, particularly among people of color in the community. A ...tireless advocate and a trailblazer for trans-rights, Monica received an award from GLAAD in 2016 for her blog that documented the history of her community from an unapologetically Black perspective" and created national visibility about trans rights by modelling what accurate media coverage of the trans community looked like. "She was a self-described griot, which is an African term given to elders who dedicate their lives to learning and preserving the history of a tribe. And she's done exactly that," the Houston GLBT Political Caucus said in a statement. "For the last fourteen years, she has chronicled the stories of Black Trans people across the country in her blog, TransGriot, and for many years was the only one doing so." This is an unfortunate event in trans history. The cause of her death was not immediately clear. The entire nation is mourning and hurting for this loss. She leaves an unforgettable message to keep fighting for our very own rights and bravely address community issues in timely fashion to keep our movement relevant and progressing. Soar high Miss Monica...we will continue the fight for everyone who needs to be free.
We care about the health of our staff just as much as the communities we serve, which is why we have been providing COVID-19 testing to all our staff every 2 weeks to insure safety while we provide our services. #covid_19 #healthycommunities

We here at San Francisco Community Health Center stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement with our clients, staff, friends, and with all who have experienced racism and other forms of injustice. As people around the globe come together in their communities to protest yet another murder of an unarmed Black person, we are filled with sorrow, anger, and a desire to show our collective strength as a community. Please join us in the call for justice for Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony Mcdade and so many others. #BlackLivesMatter #BlackTransLivesMatter #NoJusticeNoPeace
