**Vaccine Update** San Francisco is moving full speed ahead on vaccinations. All of the doses that the San Francisco Department of Public Health has received di...rectly have either been administered or scheduled for distribution this week. By this Thursday, SF DPH will run out of the supply that they've been given. We're working with our private healthcare partners, who have been given vaccine doses directly from the state, as we increase coordination around distribution and data. We've launched a vaccine data dashboard and we're working with healthcare providers and the state to get their data. You can find it as datasf.org/covid19/ We're issuing a health order to move this forward, as we partner with our private providers to set up our vaccination sites. In total, our entire system in San Francisco, including private providers and SF DPH, has received 102,825 doses. There are more than 210,000 people in Tier 1A in San Francisco, all of whom need to receive two doses. We simply need more vaccines. I'm optimistic that with the new administration, we'll see more urgent progress.

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and we recommit to the vision and courage he embodied. More than ever, as we emerge from this p...andemic, we must move this country forward to fulfill the ideals he fought for with his every breath. This past year has been a painful reminder of the deep inequities that exist in our country. The pandemic has exposed the vulnerabilities that have long existed for our African-American community. We are also living through the traumatic but inspiring movement for racial injustice born out of the murder of black men like George Floyd by law enforcement. But from all that pain springs hope for progress. Hope that we can push forward Dr. King’s vision step by step. That we can be relentless in doing the hard work to make real change for racial justice and economic justice. This must be at the forefront of everything we do as we lift ourselves up out of this pandemic. While we can never stop our work to push forward, this week we can all take a pause to reflect on what will be an incredible moment when we see the first African-American woman be sworn in as Vice President of this country. It’s hard to overstate what it will mean for so many of us when Kamala Harris takes the oath of office on Wednesday. Black women have long been the backbone of our push for justice and equality, but never has one been elevated in the way Kamala Harris will be on Wednesday. She is another step in the fulfillment of Dr. King’s Dream, and a reminder of what we can achieve when we commit ourselves to the work in his name.

SF DEM Chinese Media Roundtable - December 10, 2020

San Francisco is opening three high volume vaccination sites in addition to community sites across the City to coordinate all of the private healthcare provider...s that have been allocated doses directly from the state. The initial sites will be located at City College, SF Market in the Bayview, and Moscone Center. The first of these sites will be ready to go next week, as long as we receive a sufficient supply of vaccines from the state. Starting Tuesday, you can sign up to get notified when you’re eligible at SF.gov/vaccinenotify. We will bring pop-up vaccine sites and mobile vaccine teams to increase availability to people living in high-impacted communities. These neighborhoods will also be served by DPH’s 14 community clinics and other safety-net clinics for the uninsured or underinsured. Right now the vaccine doses we have received remain limited. We need more doses, we're ready for more, and we’re asking for more. We're ready to ramp up to distributing 10,000 doses per day. If supply significantly increases, we're ready to handle as much vaccine as we receive. City staff and our healthcare partners have been working tirelessly for almost a year on COVID response, and that has been the case with vaccine distribution as well. We’re mobilizing the entire City--the government and our healthcare partners. San Francisco has led from the very beginning. It’s why we have one of the highest rates of testing per capita and one of the lowest death rates in the entire country. We’re ready to do it again with vaccines.

I'm glad to hear that the State has updated their Stay at Home order to allow outdoor playgrounds to open. Outdoor activity is important for all of our physical... and mental health, especially children. We're now updating our guidelines and playgrounds in SF will open by tomorrow. Thank you to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department for your continued work to provide safe, outdoor places for our residents. We're continuing to follow the State's restrictions, along with our neighboring counties, as we all work together to contain the largest surge in cases we've faced. I agree with this decision and it's important that people can safely exercise and be outdoors. But it is imperative that we continue to avoid gatherings with people you don't live with and wear a mask. We have to get this surge under control now before our hospitals are overrun.

The latest Stay Home order is needed to stop the surge of COVID-19 cases, but I know how devastating it is to our local businesses. Today we're launching three ...initiatives to provide more support: 1) Local businesses that have a Shared Spaces permit or have applied for one are eligible for $5,000 in reimbursements, which is especially important now when many are unable to operate until the surge is under control. Businesses can apply here: sf.gov/shared-spaces-equity 2) San Francisco will extend the deadlines for businesses to pay Unified License Fees for 2020 and 2021, which represent a majority of the fees required to operate. These deferrals will provide approximately 19,000 businesses with more time before the fees are due. 3) The Latino community & businesses have been disproportionately impacted by COVID. The new round of funding through SF HELP will launch the SF Latino Small Business Fund, which includes $3.2 million for zero interest loans of up to $50,000 for approximately 80 small businesses. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has identified nearly $24.2 million in grants and loans for more than 1,150 local small businesses and their employees. Small businesses can apply at link.oewd.org/latinofund. The deadline is January 14, 2021. Small businesses are closing at alarming rates. People are behind on rent. This isn't sustainable. Local budgets have been crushed by this pandemic and we're facing devastating decisions over the coming months around jobs and services. We're doing everything we can to provide support at the local level, but if we had a national response and national resources we wouldn't be facing this economic reality. The federal government needs to act before more small businesses close and people fall further into debt.

Coping With Covid-19: Ep. 25 - Voting Safely During The Pandemic Voting safely during the pandemic means wearing a mask, social distancing, and avoiding crow...ds. The simplest way to vote is to fill out your ballot and return it by putting it in a blue USPS mailbox but there are other options to consider as well. You can drop off your ballot in person at San Francisco’s Voting Center, outside of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium at 99 Grove Street or arrange for someone else to drop it off for you after October 28th. After October 31st, there will be drop off locations at a public library in each of the City's 11 districts. You can also vote early in person at the Voting Center.
