Sewing Lessons in Redwood City 29.11.2020

If 2020 has taught us anything is that experiences are so much more valuable than stuff. Introducing physical and digital gift cards. Each card can be used for a 2-hr. private sewing lesson. You can choose from one of our lessons, or I can design a lesson especially for you, with your goals, experience level and interests in mind. For a limited time only, all physical cards come in a beautiful card case, designed and sewn by yours truly. Swipe left for more pictures. The case... adds a touch of elegance and I promise I won’t say a thing if you decide to keep it for yourself. Sewing is an act of love, a warm hug to the soul. A Sewing Lessons in Redwood City gift card would make a wonderful gift for anyone... kids, adults (yourself included). Link in comments. Can you think of anyone who would love to receive this gift card??? #sewinglessonsinrwc #sewinglessons #sfbayarea #sewistsofinstagram #learntosew #patternmakingclasses #bagmakingclasses #christmasgiftideas #giftgiving #bayareasewists #redwoodcity #fashiondesigner #giftideasforkids #giftideasforher #giftideasforhim

Part 2 of how to make bias tape. Joining bias strips. gather the bias strips you cut out, using the how to steps of part 1, posted the other day. The short ends of the bias strips are not straight; this is exactly what you want. place your bias strips, right sides together, forming a 90 degree angle between them. Notice what the top looks like: the short ends of the bias strips meet to form one continuous line.... use a ruler and chalk or a water soluble marker to draw your stitching line. Pin it down and sew. When you sew, make sure your needle is on the chalk line. Be sure to back stitch at the beginning and end of the seam. trim your seam allowance down to 1/4. Press it open. Voila! adding custom bias tape to your projects is just a fun way to customize it. #readysetletssew #patternmakinglessons #sewinglessons #moulage #clothesthatfit #sewinglessonsinredwoodcity #sewinglessonsinrwc #learntosew #sewcialists #fashionschool #fashiondesigner #sewingtipsbyslirwc #bayareasewingclasses #bayareaclasses #sewingclasses #howtomakebiastape

In a world where most things are mass produced, made with love is what sets what we make aside, don’t you think? Working on a new bag prototype and testing a new stamp. #bagdesigner #handbags #handbagdesign #sewinglessonsinrwc #isabelafelixcicero#sewing #imakefashion #sewistsofinstagram #redwoodcity #sanfranciscobayarea

Part 1 of how to make bias tape. Cutting out bias strips. identify the grain, cross grain and the bias (45 degree angle between the grain and cross grain). The bias is the direction of greatest stretch making bias tape a malleable finish for necklines, armholes and other curvy areas. use a quilter’s ruler at the 45 degree angle... use a sharp rotary cutter and make the first cut use the lines and squares on your ruler to cut out 2 strips Next time I will show you how to join bias strips and make a long piece of bias tape. Bias tape is my go-to neckline and armhole finish since I really dislike facings. do you like bias tape? Or do you prefer a facing? #readysetletssew #patternmakinglessons #sewinglessons #moulage #clothesthatfit #sewinglessonsinredwoodcity #sewinglessonsinrwc #learntosew #sewcialists #fashionschool #fashiondesigner #sewingtipsbyslirwc #bayareasewingclasses #bayareaclasses #sewingclasses #howtomakebiastape
