Repost from @ramit My rules for time: FOCUS ON PRODUCTIVITY PSYCHOLOGY, NOT TOOLS. People spend way too much time selecting the right tool...and way too little time focusing on their internal psychology. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A MORNING PERSON. It's not a moral failing if you prefer to work in the evening. Build a system that suits you and focuses on when you're at your best. But you should also know this: If you want to change your perfect time, you can. (Just ask any parent who used to never be a "morning person"...and now they are.) - IF SOMEONE IS LATE BY 15 MINUTES, LEAVE. This is my personal rule for time. If someone's running late and they send a note, I get it. But if someone simply doesn't show up for a meeting or a call, I leave. And it's up to them to reschedule (50% of the time someone's running late, they never even reach about it). - EARLY ON, MONEY IS WORTH MORE THAN TIME. LATER, TIME IS MORE VALUABLE THAN MONEY. College students have more time than money. Usually in your late 20s and early 30s, this equation starts to change -- you might pay for pre-cut vegetables or pay to get your house cleaned. And for many people, as career/family demands increase, your time becomes even more valuable than money. Make sure you're operating from your current "season" of life. It might feel weird to pay for certain things you used to do on your own, but if you truly value your time, it can make perfect sense. - NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE PRODUCTIVE! I spent a lot of time watching TV or reading. Not everything has to be optimized for productivity. If you've set up the systems to be productive during specific times, you can relax during other times, knowing your life is under control.
