We *finally* got a frame to put this up at the office. A special shout out to my incredible assistant who is also my amazing daughter for her help and precision! Certification in integrative health and medicine from @aihmglobal is the most authentic certification available in integrative care and I am so proud of it. It is the only program that promotes the inclusion of diverse voices in health care. In other words, it is unlike most programs that limit their enrollment to M...Ds and DOs. A dialogue about integrative care minus the providers who specialize in the very thing a program proposes to support just isn’t genuine or integrative. A truly inclusive program allows providers from diverse backgrounds and specialties to study together, dialogue together and learn from each other’s different perspectives. Anything less is tone deaf. We all know that our healthcare system is broken. The best way to fix it is from the inside out, to actively include more traditional medicine and natural medicine providers within the mainstream medical system. In other words, providers who are specifically trained in non-pharmacological approaches to health promotion and are not reliant exclusively on pharmaceuticals as the first line of defense in health care. We need MDs and DOs to support this kind of care and to actively refer out to traditional medicine or natural medicine specialists when necessary. What we don’t need is for MDs, DOs and PTs to try and be a jack-of-all-trades and do our jobs for us. This is not good for our healthcare system and it’s not good for patients. We will change our healthcare system only when traditional and natural approaches to health promotion become the first line of defense, not the only option, but a frontline option when safe and appropriate over pharmaceutical drugs and not a minute more. #traditionalmedicine #acupuncture #integrativemedicine #integrativehealth #aihm #naturalmedicine #collaborativecare #fqhc

Happy Halloween! One of our favorite things about carving pumpkins each year is roasting pumpkin seeds! 300 degrees for 45 minutes will do it. We season with a little @beruna_livingfoods once they cool. Not only are they delicious, they are full of anti-oxidants, fiber and they can help lower blood sugar.... While we won’t be doing the traditional trick-or-treating this year, we are keeping the Halloween spirit alive! #halloween2020 #universityheightssd #halloweencostumes #wednesdayaddams #catbus #tonarinototoro #totoro

I love this infographic about comfort foods from Mark Hyman. Comfort foods serve a purpose and we all turn to them when stress levels and uncertainties increase. The unhealthy variety of comfort foods (and I would add drinks) are typically cheap and easily accessible. They also contribute to the health crisis of obesity and chronic illness that stems from systemic inflammation. As a society, our culture of eating overall makes us more susceptible to other infections. #integrativehealth #functionalmedicine #nutrition #healthyeating #collaborativecare

Doctors of Acupuncture and Licensed Acupuncture providers have known this for a long time. Acupuncture reduces systemic inflammation. The good news is that the evidence base continues to grow in support of acupuncture treatment for a wide variety of chronic health problems that plague our healthcare system from diabetes and obesity to chronic pain for which chronic inflammation is at the root. We can help. Especially in light of the chronic health issues facing patients who ...have had Covid19 and face sequelae and chronic inflammation long after the acute phase of the illness, we need to expand our offerings to patients long after their life threatening symptoms have resolved. It should not be up to patients to seek care on their own outside of the mainstream system for primary care needs. We’re here to help. We’re in this together. #integrativehealth #acupuncture #traditionalmedicine #traditionalmedicinefirst #patientcenteredcare #inflammation #systemicinflammation #covid19 #AIHM

Self growth is sacred territory. Extend gentleness to yourself always, and especially when accepting the invitation to embrace Life’s whole-ly work. Growth implies the arising of conscious awareness. It also implies discomfort and sometimes disorientation as we work to find new footing, shed old ways of being and/or thinking and not lose sight of who we are at the deepest levels. This can invite some difficult emotions and feelings about where we are on this journey of tr...ansformation. This can dial in the inner critic big time. When we are vulnerable and feeling raw it’s particularly healthy to quiet any negative internal dialogue if/when it pops up. The mind-based self, which is a product of our thinking will be at odds with awareness and will talk a good story about all the negative things out there to blame and focus on rather than staying awake and conscious. Notice this little pesky back talker and remain present, unattached to the negative self-talk. Just notice it’s banter and familiar tone. Tip: The mind-based Ego and Presence cannot exist at the same time. Conscious awareness overrides the pesky Ego talker every time. And keep up the practice. This is not one and done. Keep meditating, stay whole-ly. Human evolution depends on it. #consciousness #consciousawareness #stayawake #traditionalmedicine #meditation #selfgrowth #Ego #humanevolution #seitzacupuncture #aplaceforhealing

If you really want to know how to transform healthcare, it’s from the inside out. We need to mainstream more Traditional Medicine Doctors and Naturopathic Doctors into the modern medical system, especially in primary care, women’s health and hospital care. We need to move from a profit-centered approach to a patient-centered approach in healthcare with a decreased emphasis on pharmaceuticals and an increased emphasis on lifestyle medicine and patient empowerment. ... Simply because a system is normalized and widely accepted doesn’t mean it’s always appropriate and doesn’t need improvement. Let’s make it better, together.

We need to put this nonsense to rest. In spite of glaring evidence and long standing firsthand patient reports of worsening symptoms while taking this drug, this dangerous and egregious sharing of misinformation from the highest office continues to be widespread. Why? To make a profit using fear as a persuasive sales tactic. It’s unconscionable. It’s a good policy to only accept medical advice from medical professionals and even then always use discretion and common sense. @who #covid19 #covid19misinformation #traditionalmedicine #wakeup #stopthespreadofmisinformation #vote2020
