Second Chances Used Books 24.01.2021

Second Chances is three years old! Today is the store's third anniversary, and we're still around due to the generosity of many, many people, family, friends, customers, landlords, and Sebastopol readers at large. The community has been a lifesaver. We've survived fire, flood, fire, evacuation, power outages, a pandemic, and fire again. I would have preferred to throw the bookstore a party and have a round robin reading of A Christmas Carol. Instead, I'm just happy to make note of the fact that we're still here, decked out for the season and ready to ring in the new year!

Astrology students! Horoscope casters! Every once in a while, an amazing library focused on a single subject will be offered for purchase. This month, a huge number of astrology titles poured through the doors. I've now got four shelves packed with books, and many more piles of astrological interest still to process. Last month, a customer of mine who's been buying books from me for almost 20 years had to move away from Northern California. She donated some wonderful titles - on knitting, art, and bungalow-style architecture - and a friend of hers brought me a parting gift. It's hanging now at the entrance to the fiction section. I suspect many of us recognize the sentiment.
