Last day to bid in our silent auction! This morning we are featuring auction item Sea Otter Mom and Pup in Kelp by our friends at Jeff & Wendy Photography. The photo is printed on metal and ready to hang. Field notes from Jeff and Wendy: We shot this image with our 800mm lens and decided to do a 30% crop so the focus was on the faces of the mom and the pup. We spent a few hours sitting on the rocks in Morro Bay watching a large raft of otters. It was in the late ...afternoon and we noticed a number of the otters wrapping themselves in kelp. We were 60 to 70 feet from this group of otters and decided to use our longest lens so we did not disrupt their napping session. The otters would periodically look up at the various people respectfully viewing them from the parking area and we were able to capture this tender moment.
