Today's Liver Q & A Webinar topic was Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease & NASH in Children was part of International NASH Day. #NASHday
June 10th is International NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) Day. Today patients, caregivers and physicians met with Congressman Scott Peters' office to discuss #HR8658 and #hr3 and as part of #NASHday. Great to have the Liver Wellness Foundation and Global Liver Institute participate as well!
Thank you Will Rogers!
Thanks California State Assemblymembers, Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, Assemblymember Evan Low and Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson, 64th District for their tireless support in passing AB789, a hepatitis B, and hepatitis C disparity act, through the California Assembly. The bill is sponsored by The Health Trust and Fiona Ma in collaboration with the Asian Liver Center - Stanford University. Liver disease and liver cancer caused by hep B and C account for over a third ...of the liver transplants in California. Approximately 88% of those with chronic hep B infection in California are Asian and Pacific Islander, and Black Americans have the highest prevalence of chronic hep C. Many lives can be saved through treatment, necessitating screening which costs just $10.33 and $14.27 for hep B and hep C tests respectively. By mandating the offering of hep B and C testing at routine medical appointments, AB789 would save lives and California taxpayer dollars! Onto the California Senate! See more
Thank you to our board president Terry Cunningham for celebrating his birthday by doing a Facebook fundraiser for us! In just one day he exceeded his $750 fundraising goal.
Multi-cancer early detection might not be accessible for up to a decade or longer after FDA approval unless Congress passes HR 1946. Today, a bipartisan group of senators reintroduced a companion bill to allow Medicare to cover these revolutionary technologies once they’re deemed safe and effective. The time is now. https://bit.ly/3wOCE4d
Congratulations American Idol winner Chayce Beckham. Thank you for sharing your personal story around alcohol use. Wishing you and your new single "23" the best success! Between 10 and 20 percent of heavy drinkers will develop cirrhosis. Alcoholic liver cirrhosis is the most advanced form of liver disease that’s related to drinking alcohol.
