Fred Coleman was an early pioneer of Julian who was the first to discover gold in the area, very close to our own orchards. This month we honor his legacy. and design @sweetsweetcosmicpoetry #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #cider #juliancalifornia #blacklivesmatter

EVERY TIME! Pack it in, pack it out. We have so much trash to deal with and dispose of over the coming days. It's our community that has to deal with the clean-ups from all the trash left behind.

Come check out Quecho's new spacious and cozy patio! Chef Jose, Cara and the team have done such an amazing job transforming this outdoor space. The landscaping, colorful decor and lighting create such a unique ambience, while patio heaters and fire-place keep you cozy and warm. We love all the new improvements and Quecho's continued commitment to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.... We're also really excited to hear that they're in the process of installing a draught system and will be carrying a wide variety of libations on tap very soon. Stop by Quecho's Elevated Mexican Eatery during your next visit to Julian.

Today has been a harsh reminder for our community just how quickly everything can change. Just before 1 pm a house fire broke out in a one of our local neighborhoods. The cause is still undetermined. The resident home at the time made it out safely. Nothing inside was saved. Donations of any amount will be great appreciated. ... We also want to remind everyone to check your smoke alarms. Have your fire place regularly maintained by a certified chimney sweep. Drench your fireplace ashes before dumping them outside. Blow out candles when you leave the room. Always double check to make sure the heater is off when you’re done using it. You can never to too cautious. That one extra second could save everything. https://gf.me/u/zcmku7

We spent an AMAZING weekend kicking off 2020 Apple Season at Calico Ranch Orchard! The Young family have spent the last 30+ years carrying on Julian’s apple growing tradition, which is such a central part of Julian’s history and heritage. David Young shares his family’s story over the years and their mission towards preserving some of the oldest and rarest apple strains in existence today. Stop by Calico Ranch during your next visit to Julian! Calico Ranch is a family-run app...le and pear orchard located near the historic town of Julian. The farm has remained in production since it was first planted in the early 1930’s. The Young family has owned the 30-acre orchard for more than 20 years! As one of the last remaining apple orchards in the Julian area where the public can enjoy the fun of picking their own fruit, Calico Ranch offers the possibility of a unique family experience. Supervisor Dianne Jacob, whose district includes Julian, said the ordinance would be good news for expert and amateur astronomers. "It's time to go look at the stars," she added. Jacob also requested that county staff work with San Diego Gas & Electric to resolve any issues the utility may have over an upgraded ordinance.... Supervisor Jim Desmond said he would gladly support the ordinance, adding that dark skies are a big draw for Borrego Springs, which is located in the district he represents. "I go out there frequently, and it's fantastic to see the Milky Way," Desmond said.
