Santa Clara Valley Medical Center

On February 5th, members of EMU, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Vietnam veterans, used their iconic Huey helicopter to conduct ceremonial flyovers of numerous hospital facilities across Santa Clara County. They donated their time and effort to honor healthcare workers and last responders (e.g. coroners, medical examiners etc.) who continue to work tirelessly in response to the many challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful for their outpouring of support for the dedicated staff and providers at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (Hospitals & Clinics), St. Louise Regional Hospital, and O’Connor Hospital.

We want to send a special thank you to 3rd graders at the Keys School (Palo Alto, CA) for showing their gratitude to SCVMC staff on Valentine’s Day. Their beautiful art with encouraging sentiments are on display for all employees, truly brightening the spirits of all!

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (Hospitals and Clinics) received the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, with 3,900 doses now available for all three hospitals within the system, including Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital, and St. Louise Regional Hospital. The first doses were administered to frontline workers in the Intensive Care Units and Emergency Departments on Thursday. Thank you, goodbye, congratulations, and welcome back! Very special thanks to Thieu Vu, RN for his dedication and hard work as a member of our patient and employee (COVID-19) temperature/symptom screening services, since early March. Thieu provided key leadership in the areas of training, standardization, and scheduling of this essential 24/7 service at SCVMC. (Prior to COVID-19, he was the Coordinator of our Shadowing Program with the Volunteer Services Department.) Today is... his last day in these roles - so we say thank you and goodbye. Lucky for us, Thieu just graduated from the nursing program at SJSU, passed his RN Board exams, and was hired to join our awesome care team on 2 Medical (Congratulations) where he will be supported and receive continued training by our staff developers and RN Mentor team. He is a kind and compassionate colleague, very knowledgeable, very likable, and has the gift of exceptional interpersonal skills - a joy to know!
