Coach Rozy is finishing up the day with the team. CA Post PT Instructor Class
Session starts next Monday, spots still available
Implementing fitness and reaction time exercise programs is important to decrease the injury risk and increase work capacity in firefighters with reference to female workers.
Spots still available for our next class session beginning May 17th
The results of this study showed that a recovery protocol combining deep breathing and mental imagery promotes heart rate recovery and a better maintenance of physical fitness.
These results suggest that the development of firefighter-specific skills can decrease the MSKI risk of firefighter recruits by facilitating enhanced functional movement competencies, particularly during tasks that require single-leg movement and core strength and stability.
Conclusion: Public safety organizations appear to recognize the experience of moral distress or moral injury among public safety personnel that results from disconnects between personal core values, formal and informal organizational values, vocational duties, and expectations. Further research is needed to better understand moral distress or moral injury specific to public safety personnel and inform training and treatment in support of public safety personnel mental health.
Conclusions: The mechanisms through which injuries occur are also dependent on the job. Police officers experienced a higher percentage of motor vehicle related back problems, while firefighters had a higher percentage of injuries from overexertion. Musculoskeletal injury claims in these emergency personnel resulted in opioid prescriptions approximately 10%of the time.
TSM was honored to be a part of the CA POST Officer wellness team that produced this amazing video (TAKE A LOOK). Coach Hofman was again asked to be on the next CA POSt Officer wellness team in 2021..... https://post.ca.gov/Did-You-Know--Silent-No-More

Coach Hofman recently spoke with Christy at the Firefighter Deconstructed Podcast......Check it out "The Firefighter Deconstructed gets real with John Hofman. This guy knows how to talk and doesn’t care if he ruffles a few feathers, he calls it like he sees it. Coach Hofman spent a great deal of time getting to know the business end of being a firefighter. I know this is another firefighter episode but it can be applied to ALL first responders. We all work long shifts, we all encounter trauma and a physical and mental beating.
