"Today, we have 1,563 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the county. Scripps Health now has more COVID-19 patients in our hospitals than there were in all of San Diego County hospitals combined back in July: 413 and rising. Right now, out of 173 ICU beds at Scripps, we have seven staffed beds available and more than three times that number of patients waiting for beds in our emergency departments. We are nearing the point where we have to make the decision of who gets care and who does not. Please help us help you. Stay at home this New Year’s. Stay in your safety bubble. We are pleading for your help and support." - Chris Van Gorder, Scripps Health President and CEO Read the full op-ed.
Our mission to heal, enhance and save lives has taken on new meaning amidst the pandemic. We’re so grateful for our San Diego community members, who have helped our staff every step of the way. This support remains essential as we look ahead to the new year, which is why we’ve set a final 2020 goal to raise $50,000 before the year comes to an end. Please consider supporting Scripps with a gift today. Every dollar will help our caregivers continue to deliver the excellent care you know and trust. Wrap up this holiday season with a gift to Scripps.
