County hospitals are rapidly running out of capacity because of the increase in COVID cases. This means you or your loved ones may not easily get the care you need at the hospital if you become seriously ill. What you do during the holiday season will determine if we have enough capacity in the coming weeks. Wear a mask. Keep your distance from people you don’t live with. Avoid gatherings, even with family. View our hospitalization dashboards: https://www.sccgov.org//cov/Pages/dashboard-hospitals.aspx

Halloween is coming soon! Traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating is unsafe this year due to it bringing multiple people from different households together. You can still decorate your spaces and admire the houses in your neighborhood while wearing face masks and keeping distance from those outside your household (more distance the better!). Reply in the comments with your photos! For more safe Halloween activity suggestions, visit: https://direc.to/fcAo

Santa Clara County hit another significant milestone: Over one million COVID-19 tests administered! That is over one million times an individual has thought about our community's safety and took action to get tested. Thank you to all our community partners, volunteers, and community members for getting tested and encouraging others to do so. We all play a role in keeping our community safe and healthy. A negative COVID-19 test is NOT your pass to risk-free traveling or socializing. People who test negative can still be carriers of the virus during the 14 day incubation period. Testing is important for tracking how COVID moves throughout our community, but it is not a perfect measure. The most important ways to stay COVID-free are to keep your distance (the further the better), wear your mask correctly, and avoiding gatherings.

Santa Clara County moved to the Orange Risk Level on California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy on October 14, and more businesses and activities will be able to resume. Here are some things to expect when that change happens. As always, Santa Clara County community members and businesses must follow both the State and County Health Officer Orders, and where there is a conflict between the two, the stricter Order must be followed. Visit www.sccgov.org/cv19order for more information.
