Go #OperationSchoolBell! This week we provided backpacks stuffed with NEW basic school essentials to 66 underserved LA children from South Los Angeles. As OSB Wheels Days haven’t resumed due to the pandemic we couldn’t bring the backpacks (filled with essential school supplies; basic clothing, shoes, uniforms, underwear, socks, hygiene products, books and a toy) to the children, so they came to us. ... The kids we served were thrilled with this drive-thru, contactless pick-up! Our total #OperationSchoolBell count is now 6,169 bags - which means we have served that many at-risk children this school year and we are still counting!

This morning our Preschoolers loved getting to read along with and then receive their very own new copy of the children’s book, Llama Llama Loves Camping! Thank you, Nancy Linari for creating such an awesome read-along video of this story for our Preschool Learning Center, as part of our #fdsblastoffwithbooks! The children’s book, I Am The Solar System (written by Rebecca and James McDonald) was a huge hit with our preschoolers this morning! We have some wonderful news to share from our #FosterChildrensResourceCenter... Today our FCRC distributed 270 new whiteboards and 450 new board games and craft kits to the three LA DCFS offices that we work with. Social workers from these DCFS offices will now be able to distribute these items to our clients on our behalf. ... This was the perfect time to get these items to local foster children in need - to help them with their studies and keep them safely engaged at home during the pandemic. #AssistLAtogether #fosterchildren #fostercare
