After spending a summer in Pisa, eating gelato and studying Italian, Jessica moved to Florence and completed her post-baccalaureate studies in Enology and Viticulture. While studying French in high school and college, Elizabeth crafted her plan to create a community centered around food and wine. After graduating from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) with a B.S. in Viticulture and before joining Cornell Vineyards in 2018, Elizabeth led Saint Helena Winery as Winemaker and Vineyard Manager. With posts over the years in the varied terrains of ...Saint-Émilion, Paso Robles, and Napa and Sonoma Counties, she was primed for Cornell Vineyards’ challenging mountain estate, from which she has produced some exceptional wines. In addition to Band of Vintners, Mark is the winemaker for Anomaly Vineyards and produces his own wines under the Zeitgeist Wines label. Prior to joining Anomaly, Mark honed his craft in the Napa Valley cellars of Araujo Estate, Behrens Family Winery, and El Molino Winery, as well as Craggy Range Winery in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. After establishing a Champagne brand in his father's namesake and working abroad for several years, Julien returned to France where he ultimately decided to inherit his family legacy and begin making Champagne, along with his wife Sarah. Sarah Launois is an artist, graphic designer, and wine aficionado. She designed their new brand identity, naming it after their son, Paul Launois.... In many ways, Champagne Paul Launois is a love story: the love of a man and a woman, the love of wine and art, and the love of a son and his family. This #WinemakerWednesday, we're spotlighting Helen Keplinger, winemaker for two of our brands: Keplinger Wines and Vermillion Wine. Helen attended the M.S. program in Enology at UC Davis and has since worked alongside Heidi Barrett at Paradigm Winery in Napa Valley, Kathy Joseph at Fiddlehead Cellars in Santa Barbara, as well as Michel Rolland and David Abreu. She has made wine for a variety of projects, including Melis Priorat in Spain, Arrow & Branch, Bryant Estate, Carte B...lanche Wine, Grace Family Vineyards, and Kenzo Estate. As luck would have it, Helen met her now-husband and business partner DJ Warner in a Spanish wineshop in Los Angeles at the end of 2003. In 2006, Helen founded Keplinger and by 2008, the couple had launched their first vintage with a focus on small production, single-vineyard Rhône varietal wines. To this day, Keplinger strives to craft seamless, terroir-driven wines from a number of diverse sites across Napa, Sonoma, and the Sierra Foothills. This #WinemakerWednesday, we're spotlighting Sam Kaplan, winemaker for two of our brands: Maxem Wines and Memento Mori. During his time at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, Sam found himself drawn to winemaking and the culture of wine as a way of life. After graduation, he started at ZD Wines, where he cut his teeth in winemaking and met his wife Nancy, who worked on her off days to expand her palate as a professional chef. In 2006, Sam was presented with the once-in...-a-lifetime opportunity to join Arkenstone Estate Winery on Howell Mountain as a winemaker and vineyard manager. Since, Sam launched his winemaking consultancy with Memento Mori, followed by Nine Suns and Vangone Estate. In 2015, Sam and Nancy decided to launch a brand of their own. As a tribute to their kids, Max and Emma, thus began Maxem Wines.
