The THIRD (and last) STUDENT POETRY READING/Thursday, April 11 at 1pm/Library Viewing Room/Sign-up at beginning of event and read some of your poems to the audience. Come join us, for just as Jamila Lyiscott (pictured below) notes: poetry is lit.
BATTLE OF THE CAMPUSES: Represent SBVC in a poetry slam! Weekly workshops to hone your style, beginning Wednesday, March 20, 4-6 p.m. in the Greek Theatre. No slam experience needed! Contact [email protected] for more info.
WRITERS’ BLOCK: SBVC student club for creative writers of any kind continues to meet on Wednesdays at 2pm in CC142. Join them to get involved, meet other students interested in writing, and partake in some interesting creative events.
ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE: English majors and those interested in becoming English majors are encouraged to drop by the English Department Open House on Thursday, February 28 anytime between 12 and 4pm in LA217B. Get info on AA-T in English, on fall 2019 offerings, get answers about transfer, jobs/careers, learn about some of the resources available for English majors, etc. And, of course, meet some of our English faculty in a more informal setting. Light refreshments will be served.
MOVIE NIGHT sponsored by the Writers’ Block club. Enjoy some pizza (while supply lasts) and the movie Almost Famous (a young writer learns about life, love and rock and roll covering a band for Rolling Stone). Free. Thursday, February 7, 6pm in Art 144.
