Open through SATURDAY -- BUDDING ARTISTS Children enrolled in the Center for Early Childhood Education toured the Art Gallery's "Budding Artists" exhibit last Tuesday. The exhibit of artwork created by ECE students runs through Jan. 31. An accompanying silent-auction fundraiser will continue until the closing reception and announcement of winners on Jan. 27. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. CLICK to see the AWESOME artwork!! SO FUN!

As part of an ongoing workshop series for FAMILY CAREGIVERS, College of the Canyons and the SCV Senior Center are offering a workshop designed to help Caregivers learn to better care for themselves, and those receiving their care. In this workshop, participants will explore LEGAL EMPOWERMENT OF THE ADVOCATE. The focus of the workshop will be How to Legally be an Effective Advocate, and Avoid the Court.... An advocate must have, by law, proper documents in place, and understand how, when, and why to use those documents. There are many issues involved, and the advocate must understand the do’s and don’ts of their position as advocate and caregiver, and the important laws that apply. College of the Canyons to Host Series of Free Family Caregiver Workshops We hope you will help us spread the word about our new Family Caregivers Workshops. College of the Canyons, in partnership with the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center and with support from the Archstone Foundation, will host a free Family Caregivers Essentials workshop on Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center. ... The Saturday August 26th the workshop will focus on Crisis Management Planning: Knowing what to do when life changes dramatically and what resources are available The first in an ongoing series of workshops designed to offer assistance to current and potential family caregivers, the workshop will educate and empower attendees about decision-making and resources available to create a crisis plan for health care decisions. Taking on the role of a caregiver can be overwhelming for many individuals. We hope this series of workshops provide community members with the tools and information they need to care for their loved ones in a way that best befits their unique circumstances. Funded by a grant from the Archstone Foundation, the workshop will be led by Anne Front, a licensed marriage and family therapist and palliative care therapist care coordinator at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.
