Fun Fact: Navratri is celebrated differently in different parts of India due to rich cultural diversity in India. North India: Navratri is referred to as Kullu Dussera, here the celebration starts on the tenth day of the festival. Kullu Dussera is the day when lord rama returned to Ayodhya. ... East India: Only the last four days of Navratri are celebrated, it is often referred to as Durga Puja. West India: It is celebrated for 9 nights, drums and good food. It is a huge celebration in Gujarat and Maharashtra. South India: Navratri is referred to as Kolu in parts of South India.Friends, relatives and neighbors exchange gifts, clothes and jewelries. Kolu translates to a staircase having nine stairs, each night represents one stair and all the stairs are decorated with dolls, idols of gods and goddesses.
