This morning our team began our annual SAR Skills check off. Today was the pack check. Each member of our team is required to have all of these items in their 24 hour pack at the minimum. It is vital to make sure all of these items are not expired and in good condition, so that when there is a mission, they are ready to go. As trails are slowly beginning to open again, it is important to always be prepared. Do you check your gear regularly? We do this #sothatothersmaylive .... . . . . #sothatothersmaylive #sar #volunteer #knot #searchandrescue #ropes #pulleys #ropestraining #knots #wellhaulyourlitter #training #trainingdays #ropeskills #ropesthatrescue #rope #ropesystems #practice #alwayslearning #socialdistancing #soothersmaylive

Major Announcement - As of 5:00 p,m today, the San Bernardino National Forest, as well as a number of other forests in California, will be closed to all public ...use. The wildfire situation throughout California is dangerous and must be taken seriously. Existing fires are displaying extreme fire behavior, new fire starts are likely, weather conditions are worsening, and we simply do not have enough resources to fully fight and contain every fire, said Randy Moore, Regional Forester for the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region. We are bringing every resource to bear nationally and internationally to fight these fires, but until conditions improve, and we are confident that National Forest visitors can recreate safely, the priority is always to protect the public and our firefighters. With these extreme conditions, these temporary actions will help us do both. Read the full press release here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r5/news-events/
