CARE has been reaching out to all the candidates for D7 Supervisor, making sure they understand our concerns and that we know their stance on Edgehill development and how they will support us. We believe it is in the interest of CARE and its members as a group to have the most opportunity possible to get to know and discuss concerns with each candidate about Edgehill and other D7 issues. CARE is arranging events for our members to speak with as many supervisor candidates as... possible. They are one chance for CARE members to convey how important this issue is to us. To these ends, we have arranged an opportunity to hear Supervisor Candidate Joel Engardio speak about San Francisco City Politics, on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 8:00pm, and attend a Q and A with him afterward. RSVP form for attendees to fill out https://forms.gle/HvAw9K52ioaMF8mV7

Dear neighbors, on behalf of our C.A.R.E. ( community action to rescue Edgehill) We want to thank you all for your support and attendance at the Wednesday night meeting. We had great attendance and amazing energy during the meeting which showed the developer and our supervisor Norman Yee that we do care. Below are some highlights: -- SIA consulting firm representing the developer underwhelmed us. They were not familiar with some facts, and came under prepared. They file per...mits without fully studying the area, despite its notorious history of construction related disaster. They want to rely on SF planning for doing the due diligence they were supposed to do. -- One physician neighbor spoke about the huge negative impact of health for the entire neighborhood. The dust, pollution that will be generated, the acres of trees that will be destroyed as result of these 6 multi-million ultra-rich houses. There are 2 schools (WP elementary and St. Brandon) nearby the site and we cannot neglect the damaging effect on health for these children. -- Previous supervisor Tony Hall called this project" ludicrous". He delivered a succinct and powerful speech against the development. -- We were told by SIA that these construction disasters were events of the past. Sausalito had a major landslide that destroyed homes on 2/14/2019 on a hill with similar geological structure, history as Edgehill. The city allowed development, and history repeated itself. We heard on the news -- bay bridge, millennium tower, Transbay terminals, just to name a few. These are projects involving world's best architects, engineering firms and construction companies. Permits were granted by cities. Engineer disasters are happening and, unfortunately, average citizens suffer from the consequences. -- A young neighbor shared her story of her great great grand father settling in the houses on Kensington Way. She is concerned with the native animals and the lost forest in exchange for a wall of concrete structures that will forever change West portal. -- Pastor Jeff shared his experience witnessing the last landslide on Edgehill. This slide caused homes to be destroyed, church buried for years. C.A.R.E. wanted to thank you for attending , sharing your support and thoughts. Please continue to write to Supervisor Yee [email protected] and the assigned city planner Jeff Horn [email protected] and express your opposing to this outrageous development. GWPNA (Greater West Portal Neighborhood Association) is officially in support of our efforts to stop development on Edgehill.

Say NO to Edgehill Mountain development--a brief analysis of the geotechnical report by the developer

Neighborhood meeting: monster houses on Kensington Way- PLEASE CONSIDER ATTENDING Dear neighbors, on behalf of our neighborhood group, I would like to invite you to attend this meeting to voice your opinions and learn about impact on your life and property with monster houses projects on Kensington Way. Date: 11/13/ 2019 Wednesday 6:30pm-8:00pm... Locate: 300 Ulloa Street (New Life Church of Nazarene http://www.newlifesf.org/directions/ ) At 300 Ulloa, turn left up through the gateway, up the driveway to Knockash Hill. Light refreshments will be provided. We picked this location based on availability. Due to the holiday approaching, it was difficulty to find a venue. Parking is very limited in Knockash Hill. Shuttles will be arranged soon to provide transportation. More information will follow. Who should attend? All concerned residents in San Francisco. If you live west of Twin Peaks, drive on Kensington way in the morning to take your kids to school, walk your dog in the neighborhood, please come and join us in finding out the following issues: Luxury housing does not equal available housing for San Francisco The traffic nightmare your street will experience if this is approved even if you don’t live on or close to Kensington way Pollution and air quality from blasting off a major mountain Destruction of already limited open space in SF Displacement of endangered species living on the mountain Major safety concern, emergency vehicle access, elimination of street parking, which means your street will have much fewer street parking available Significant risks of major landslide, destabilization of uphill and adjacent houses (outlined in the developer's hired geotechnical firm report) We understand the timing and location are not the most convenient for you all as holidays are coming. Just like the first pre-application meeting, we believe that these circumstances were planned intentionally by the very experience, well-connected SIA consulting firm (representing the developer) to create obstacles for the neighborhood. We appreciate your attendance. It is very critical to show how much we care. Thank you.

Dear neighbors, On behalf of our neighborhood, we would like to provide some updates. The consulting firm ( SIA consulting) representing the developer has filed building permits to build on the steep slope of Edgehill Mountain. Those who attended the pre-application meeting are shocked by this as, during the meeting, the consulting firm owner publicly agreed to ( recorded video): 1. Holding another pre-application meeting in the neighborhood to allow more neighbors to attend... prior to filing. 2. Answering our questions in writing and submit these questions along with answers to the DBI. Neither is done. In fact, the owner stated that he has not completed most studies, but wanted to file the permit just so they can be in the queue for DBI. He does not know if this is a safe project. He does not care. During the pre-application meeting, the consulting firm owner kept on mentioning Kensington way being 50 ft wide, when, in fact, it is around 20 ft +/- wide. He later changed stating it was just an idea. Please see the attached photo from their actual submitted plan. This street has no resemblance to Kensington way. Please help us say " no" to this development by calling Norman Yee's office to voice your opposition. If you would like to be notified of any updates, please private message me or anyone from our group. This project will NOT provide more housing for those in need in San Francisco. The area is geologically unstable and has history of severe landslides as many long term residents can share horror stories with you. Thank you See more
