Critical aspects of the SOF SME position include extensive knowledge of special operations, team/platoon and company/troop level operations, foreign internal defense, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, cold weather operations, mountain warfare operations, and military mountaineering. Candidates must understand the importance of Special Operations Forces/Conventional Forces Interoperability and Interdependence.. Due to the rigorous nature of the tasks assigned and rugged nature of the training area at the MCMWTC, the SOF SME must be physically fit and capable of performing mountaineering tasks, over the snow movement, and long-range movement by foot carrying all required equipment. SOF SME must be able to complete a Marine Corps physical fitness test with a minimum unadjusted score of 225, evaluated by the COR within the first 90 days post award or personnel substitution. Ten (10) cumulative years in ONE or MORE of the following designations or equivalent to meet the experience requirement: U.S. Army - Special Forces (18 series) U.S. Navy - Naval Special Warfare (SEAL) Officer (Designation 113X) U.S. Navy Combatant Swimmer (SEAL) (Designation 5326) U.S. Marine Corps - Special Operations Officer (MOS 0370) U.S. Marine Corps - Critical Skills Operator (MOS 0372) U.S. Marine Corps - Special Operations Strategic Planner (MOS 8870) Completion of ONE of the following schools or equivalent meets the basic qualification requirement: U.S. Army - Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) U.S. Navy - Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training, and SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) U.S. Marine Corps - Assessment and Selection (A&S), and Individual Training Course (ITC).
