Quick. VERY quick for the tired, distracted, and unassuming. Did you spot the pre-contact cues? There are small unusual actions that we pick up in the moment.... A bad feeling in the pit of our stomach. What do YOU do when you get that feeling? What is your plan for dealing with the unexpected? Your tactical mindset is EVERYTHING. Have a look into the @spear.system to upgrade your processing system and train to become #safersooner. See more

Wow. Terrifying. . This mother and her 3 year old daughter made it home safely after a terrifying ambush. . She accredits her survival to her indignation. Hearing her daughter cry nearby motivating her to fight back, overwhelming the attacker with kicks and punches.... . She reminds us that our most valuable tools are our instinct and intuition. When you get a bad feeling, scan your surroundings and move to safety. Coach Tony Blauer & the S.P.E.A.R. System calls this the 3 I's. Instinct: noticing something "off", Intuition: understanding that your gut feeling may be a signal that danger is near, Intelligence: answering the call of your intuition and getting to safety or preparing for battle. . I feel compelled to revisit the #SPEARsystem 3 Golden Rules: 1. Accept what is happening. This is your scenario. 2. get Challenged. Being threatened is reactionary. Getting challenged gives us the power to take control. 3. keep Thinking. Variables change. We must he ready to adapt and overcome. . This mother and child deserve so much praise for doing what must be done in the moment. Overcoming her fears and for sharing her story to improve the lives of others. . How does this story make you feel? Tell us in the comments. . If you are interested in no bullsh*t #selfdefense training to improve your survivability, send me a DM and I will find a SPEAR System coach in your area. . You are capable of great things. Don't let you get in your way. . video credit: @KTLX Sacramento @nexstarmedia See more

Reality Check Training in slow-motion can be incredibly useful. Doing-so connects us with our movement and allows us to understand the nuances of our action. The danger here is disrupting our understanding of time. When we attempt to use complex motorskills as a means of defense, those movements are slow and innefective. In a true ambush, our flinch response overrides our cognition (the part of our brain where we programmed these complex motor skills). "The litmus test is... what you see, not what you believe." -@tonyblauer Make the effort to distinguish real violence from imaginary. It could end up saving your life. No, this is NOT our program. No we are not affiliated. We’ve received a bunch of messages about this and reached out to the The Self Defense Company. We haven’...t heard back after politely asking them to stop using our registered trademark. Please let your family, friends, peers and colleagues know this program has nothing to do with our program. The name BE YOUR OWN BODYGUARD is a registered trademark of Tony Blauer & the S.P.E.A.R. System We have used this professionally since the mid 80s and have programs, manuals and sites using the name. https://blauerspear.com/byob-info We have already reached out (politely)three times to MR Ross and their company and they have chosen not to reply. Perhaps Mr Ross has never heard of me, or the our BE YOUR OWN BODYGUARD program. Perhaps he has. Regardless we sent a copy of our trademark with a polite request to modifying the headline. I’m sure if someone were using MR Ross’s tradename to capture leads and sell products he would want the same thing I want. As a lifelong martial artist, integrity and truth are virtues I hold dearly. I hope MR Ross instructs his marketing people to remove our tradename. It’s the right thing to do. Sincerely Tony Blauer

Rifts have been made dividing our country, our families, even our own psyche. Destruction is often necessary for construction. If you've trained in the @spear.system, you know. Getting smashed in the brachial plexus is no joke. #spearsystem #physiologyfirst #speartactic #Repost @physioosteogram ... THE BRACHIAL PLEXUS [NEUROANATOMY] The brachial plexus is a network of nerve fibres that supplies the skin and musculature of the upper limb. It begins in the root of the neck, passes through the axilla and runs through the entire upper extremity. As you know from my previous posts about Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, compression of the medial, lateral and posterior cords of the brachial plexus can occur between the anterior and middle scalenes, the first rib and clavicle and below the pectoralis minor muscle. The brachial plexus originates from five nerve ROOTS: C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1. These nerve roots coalesce to form three TRUNKS: Superior, Middle and Inferior. The trunks divide to form six DIVISIONS: An anterior and posterior division for each of the three trunks. The divisions coalesce to form three CORDS: Medial, lateral and posterior. Then the cords form five terminal BRANCHES: median, radial, ulnar, axillary and musculocutaneous. Pic 5 is a great illustration which will help you to learn the brachial plexus easily! This piece of artwork by @DrJoeMuscolino is drawn like a tree. The names of the components of the brachial plexus (roots, trunks, branches) are all parts of a tree. Even the term cord can be related to a tree, as in a cord of wood. Video 1 explains the components of the brachial plexus. Video 2 explains the innervation of the radial nerve which is a terminal branch nerve of the brachial plexus so it is shown as a branch of the tree. Each muscle innervated by the radial nerve is indicated by a leaf with enough letters written on the leaf (Pic 4) to indicate the name of that muscle. Video 3 shows some of the preterminal branch nerves of the brachial plexus and the muscles they innervate. The brachial plexus has five terminal branches and eleven preterminal branches. Videos 4/5 demonstrate the medial and lateral cords and the three terminal branches to which they give rise (median, ulnar and musculocutaneous). #anatomy #fascia #chiropractic See more

We are broken. When our society enables a father and son to gun down an innocent man on speculation, it has failed. When the system works to cover up the truth because of the involved's position, authority, race, etc, it is horribly broken. When we do not DEMAND CHANGE and JUSTICE for those less fortunate, we cannot move forward. ... This young man should be celebrating his 26th birthday today with his family. #Repost @instamemorials Ahmaud Arbery should have celebrated his 26th birthday today. Tragically, he was murdered on February 23 when he was chased down and shot in the street. He was killed while jogging through a neighborhood outside Brunswick, Georgia. . On February 23, a father and son chased Ahmaud down in a pickup truck, believing he was a suspect in a string of burglaries. George McMichael, 64, told police his son, Travis McMichael, 34, shot Ahmaud after the latter allegedly attacked him as he stood in the road with a shotgun, according to the police report. . Video footage of Ahmaud’s horrific murder was released a few days ago causing a nationwide uproar and calls for justice. The footage begins with Ahmaud jogging down the middle of a street toward a pickup truck stopped in the road. Gregory McMichael (a former police officer) is in the bed of the truck, while his son Travis McMichael is standing near the driver's side door. Ahmaud approaches and he and Travis McMichael begin tussling. A shot goes off, and the two disappear off the left side of the screen as Ahmaud appears to throw a punch. Gregory McMichael takes out a handgun but doesn't fire. A second shot is heard as the men are struggling off-camera. As they come back into view, both are still grappling with the shotgun. Ahmaud appears to throw a right-handed punch at Travis McMichael's head as a third gunshot is heard. Blood appears on Ahmaud T-shirt below his left ribcage. He stumbles and falls in the middle of the two-lane road. . Those who knew Ahmaud said the former high school football player often jogged through the neighborhoods southwest of Brunswick. His loved ones described him as a "very good young man." "His heart was always in the right place. See more
