Pulling up in its self-contained vehicle, TEAM Chumash set up right in front of the Solvang Senior Center and worked like a well-oiled machine, distributing dozens of prepackaged meals to smiling seniors. Delivering elegantly boxed meals right to members' cars, consisting of savory squash soup, tender grass-fed beef stew, carrots, peas and mashed potatoes feeding the mind, spirit, and body with nutrition and love. From various educational programs to conservation efforts and giving back; the Chumash community takes great pride in sharing our history and culture with other...s. One exciting new way a member of our community has found to share Chumash stories with future generations is through a new Netflix series called . Created by Karissa Valencia, is a fantasy-adventure preschool series following Native American sibling trio Kodiak, Summer and Eddy Skycedar, who have a shared secretthey’re "Spirit Rangers!" Spirit Rangers can transform into their own animal spirit to help protect the National Park they call home. The series joins a collection of all-inclusive children's programming from Doc McStuffins creator Chris Nee, and her production company Laughing Wild. I am so proud that has found its home at Laughing Wild. is native led with a team of native writers, native artists, native actors and native composers. As a Native Storyteller, I've rarely come across the opportunity to tell my own story. I am forever grateful to be given the chance at Laughing Wild and can’t wait for everyone to meet our funny modern native family in . - Karissa Valencia, Creator/Executive Producer

The Condor Comeback Thanks to people with different backgrounds and different talents from zookeepers to field biologists, from Chumash elders to eager schoolchildren these magnificent birds are back in the sky in the hundreds, Montgomery said. But we’re still not done yet, and the book tells how readers can help. Condor Comeback is complete with world-class, full-color photography by Tianne Strombeck and helpful sidebars that provide details such as the history of... the bird’s fight back from extinction, the dangers of lead poisoning, and the relationship of condors to the Chumash nation. Conservation is one of our primary responsibilities as a zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, and we’re extremely lucky to have such an incredible, dedicated team, shared Rich Block, CEO of the Santa Barbara Zoo. We are thrilled that the team got to play such an important role in this book, and we can’t wait for our community to read all about it! #condorcomeback https://www.santaynezvalleystar.com/condor-comeback-featur/
