The National Day of Prayer was established in 1952 by President Truman. The president is required to sign a proclamation each year to encourage all Americans to pray on the first Thursday in May. This year’s theme is God’s glory across the earth. Here’s my prayer: May your love and glory spill out of my heart and shine for those who have not known your love. My it open their hearts to your grace and love. May it cause a flood of peace over the world and end violence. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

If you are in need of healing spiritual, physical, mental, or emotional you are invited to healing services at Knox/Thanksgiving Church, to be held on the second Saturday of each month at 4 pm, beginning on May 14th, at 1650 W. Third St. (corner of Stony Point) in Santa Rosa. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including families, or anyone who has been spiritually wounded or hurt by any church, are especially welcome. Pastor Janet Blair was installed as pastor of Thanksgiving Lutheran and Knox Presbyterian Churches on Sunday, March 14th, in an outdoor service in a rain and windstorm. The Holy Spirit nearly blew us all away! A wonderful installation, filled with joy and the promise of wondrous things to come. Thanks to everyone who made it possible, and all those who joined us for the service, in-person and on Zoom! God be praised!

Sunday, December 20, is the fourth Sunday of Advent. Now only days from Christmas, we hear the Angel Gabriel's annunciation to Mary that she will bear a child, and that all people will call her blessed. May the Christ Child come to us as well, and may all the world be blessed.

Joy is not the same as happiness. We can be unhappy about many things, but joy can still be there because it comes from the knowledge of God’s love for us. . . .... Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day. Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across t...he United States on the second Monday in October, TODAY, and is an official city and state holiday in various localities. It began as a counter-celebration held on the same day as the U.S. federal holiday of Columbus Day, which honors Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. Many reject celebrating him, saying that he represents "the violent history of the colonization in the Western Hemisphere", and that Columbus Day covers-up Christopher Columbus' actions of enslaving Native Americans. It was begun in Berkeley, California, in 1992, to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas. In the 2010s, various other cities and states also began observing it. Committees of Native American Presbyterians are working to provide resources with information to help inform the denomination about Indigenous Peoples Day. See more

Good news! Although the flames came very close, fire fighters saved Glenn and Rosanne Gephart's home. We are giving thanks to God for this. It will be a while before they can live there again, though, so we offer prayers for their in-between time.
