For three weeks in June, recent eighth grade graduates got the opportunity to interact with engineers and professionals from local companies, observe demonstrations, and participate in direct learning experiences and practical applications for STEM concepts. This year the in-person Academy was more relevant than ever because students missed the majority of their middle school on-campus experience due to the pandemic, and the program was critical to build confidence and to help them prepare to enter high school in the fall. https://www.santarosametrochamber.com//mike-hauser-academ/

Business owners, before the long Independence Day weekend begins we highly encourage you to participate in this survey. The Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI) survey collects data from business owners of ALL backgrounds to draw comparisons and highlight unique experiences and impacts of Latino-owned businesses. The data will help inform business and government decision makers and continue to move equity forward in Sonoma County. Your participation is crucial for understanding how businesses are doing in the midst of a myriad of challenges and opportunities, and is vital for helping more Sonoma County families thrive through their entrepreneurship. https://stanfordgsb.qualtrics.com/j/form/SV_a2D2pAuZaj48MDQ

California regulators have approved revised workplace pandemic rules that end most mask requirements for most employees who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, and Gov. Gavin Newsom immediately issued an executive order waiving the usual 10-day legal review. The new rules will take effect as soon as they are filed with the secretary of state.

A huge win for working families and our community. An investment in child care and early education is vital in supporting and retaining working families in our community. Our economic growth and recovery depend on our treating child care as essential infrastructure, and investments in child care will result in immediate and long-term returns on our investment.

We have supported taxes before and will likely support them again. We are simply asking for no new or extended burdens on our residents for the next two years. Let’s recover from our recent fires and get through fire season first. Let’s navigate PSPS, care for our residents, and keep our favorite small business alive. Let’s reopen our schools safely for teachers and students. Let’s get the thousands of families who have lost a job back in the workforce. Then, let’s figure out what taxes are needed for what lays ahead of us. Read the Chamber's full statement at https://www.santarosametrochamber.com//no-not-now-on-tax-/
