Congratulations to GRID Alternatives and Anza Electric for their planning and implementation to develop this 1-megawatt solar facility, California’s first low-income community solar project. Santa Rosa is proud we are able to partner with you to share our resources by committing the land necessary for this project. We are grateful this will directly benefit 38 reservation homes, but even more grateful it will provide direct benefits to an additional 200+ households for our neighbors within the wider mountain communities of Anza, Aguanga, and Mountain Center. And most importantly, we are incredibly proud of the Santa Rosa Tribal Members who were a part of the construction process and gained valuable hands on training in solar construction. Thank you for your hard work and commitment.

‘Ípaxvichem He’méxan’a’ Támit. The Tribal Council of The Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indians took the day to visit some remote parts of the reservation. During the trip we reflected on our history and were reminded of why we are extremely proud to be Séwyam (people of Séwya).

Please join us for our informative Town Hall for Census 2020. Santa Rosa Counts! #CENSUS2020

Santa Rosa Band of Cahuilla Indians 06.09.2020

California Native Vote Project, California Indian Manpower Consortium, Inc., and California Consortium for Urban Indian Health cordially invites you to join us in our upcoming Virtual Community Town Hall Meeting on Saving the Census on Thursday, September 17, 2020 - 4:00 PM (PDT) Indian Country is struggling to complete an accurate count of our population for the U.S Census. COVID-19 forced major changes in the Census outreach strategy. Now, the Trump administration is trying... to end the Census count one month early. Shortening the census period will leave out many people across Indian Country. Let’s be clear about what’s at stake for American Indian and Alaska Natives. An undercount will lead to losing as much as $1 billion per year. These are resources that our Native communities rely on for healthcare, schools, roads, and other essential programs and services. During the community town hall, we are inviting community leaders and members to discuss the devastating impacts that COVID-19 has had on our historical low count, as well as the impacts of the decision to cut the Census short a month early. It is important to us that Congress hear our voices and demands for a fair and complete count. We urge every individual of the community to attend and amplify this meeting on social media.
