I honestly am at a loss for what is happening in this country and in this world. I have been watching with growing concern not for the virus, but for the pani...c that is causing far more harm than this virus ever could (in my opinion). I have been determined to not fall into fear, but rather into faith. I decided I will not panic and I will do what I can to help others. I have been heartbroken to see posts about elderly people crying because there are no supplies on the shelves and they are scared. I have heard reports of stabbings over toilet paper! Stabbings...over toilet paper! I just got back from going out to the store to try and find a few items for my elderly mother who is medically compromised and has been advised to stay in her house. I went to 3 different stores. In all three stores I observed eerie quiet. No one is smiling, and the fear is palpable. There is an air that hangs heavy with despair and defeat. Determined to NOT fall under the spell of fear, I talked with the cashier in the 3rd store about something I found to be funny, and she laughed too. It's almost like she was hungry to have a moment of normalcy and just laugh! I believe if we all do this we can start to quiet the fear. Also, please everyone, I challenged myself and I challenge all of you: if we each just do things to help ONE person we know who needs it by giving them some toilet paper or some canned soup, or some bread (someone elderly, or infirmed, or just can't find a dang roll of toilet paper), just ONE person each, imagine how we could calm the fear, and panic, and food hoarding?!? Of course, please stay safe and do things to protect yourself, and educate yourself! Please take up this challenge and forward this post to others if you agree.
