We are SO excited to share our latest and greatest project with you! This is our new Enrichment Board! Each day, both dogs and cats get different forms of enrichment to suit their needs and senses while in our care. If you'd like to be a part of enriching the lives of shelter animals, we'd love your help! We have two wish lists full of great enrichment items we would like to be able to provide the animals in our care with. Even used, in good shape and cleansed items (li...ke the ones on our wish lists) are appreciated! We can't wait to show you the success of the program and the animals using these enrichment items! Have you seen puppies this size?! These girls are four months old and are v v large They’re your typical, bouncy, active puppies who are going to get bigger, so if you’re in the market for an XL pupper who wants a job, submit an application! They won’t be available for adoption until later this week, but folks can submit an application and note Sadie or Amber. Once available, they will be on our website so check back frequently! They may be shepherd mixes? We don’t h...ave background on them, but know that they’re active and playful, like your typical puppies! Visit our website: spcasc.org

Do you see those silly hippo teeth? That’s Snowman! Snowman came to us in not so great shape. Since arriving here in early December, he’s had all of his teeth removed (thanks Chanticleer Veterinary Hospital!), been to the vet a few times and got groomed (thanks Bed and Biscuits / Groomingdales!)! He has some stuff still going on in his mouth so he’s going to see dental specialists, Dentistry for Animals on the 19th. After his appointment we’ll post his glow-up! Stay... tuned! Deets: ~9yo / ~18lbs / Will go on our website when officially available . . #poodlesofinstagram #rescuedogsofinstagram #shelterdog #poodle

Today's #Caturday brought to you by CHASE! This adorably handsome man is about 2 years and 12lbs. He is shy and unsure at first, but will be all over you in no time! We don't know his history with cats or dogs but we do know he'd make an excellent House Panther! Fill out an application if you're interested in adopting Chase! (thank you to awesome volunteer, Jacqueline for the photos!)

We always love to share the "Happy Tails" of animals who have been adopted and are living their best lives in loving homes. Today we celebrate a "Tail Well Lived" after receiving the sad news that little miss Luna (previously known as "Celine") crossed the rainbow bridge after living out her dream adopted-life with two wonderful people and a fur-sibling for the past three years. Luna was a senior lady whom we lovingly doted on for nearly nine months before her new family fo...und her. She was featured as a Home for the Holidays Challenge because she was a sassy 'lil thing that lived life her way -- and we better all get in line. Her mom and dad accepted her heart and soul so completely and provided her with more love, snuggles, and adventure than we could have ever hoped for. She got to run the beaches of California, roam the mountains of Colorado, and snooze on all the cozy beds in between. Sending hugs and comfort to her earth-side caretakers and a big "give 'em hell!" to Luna as she continues her adventure beyond!

Today's #FosterFriday is an update on Snowman! He's doing well in his amazing foster home (thank you, Julie!), and is really enjoying the sweater weather. He's being well cared for and we will update you after his surgery in February!

Today we bring you a new spin on the "working dog"! One of the many things we love about our new home is the ability to use our office and admin spaces as doggy hang-outs (and soon kitties will find their way into the mix as well!) Where you can find computers, printers, file cabinets, and office supplies, you'll also find cozy beds, water bowls, toys, and plenty of dog hair! Not only does having shelter animals among us boost OUR happiness level, it's also a wonderful enrichment tool for dogs who are more anxious in their suites or who just need extra lovin'. Show us YOUR Workin' Dogs (or cats!)

HAPPY TAILS UPDATE You all remember Ookie, who we featured a month or so ago that was returned for suckling? Well he had the glow-up of the year! Ookie loves his new home, his new canine sibling and is suckling less and less. Here's what his family has to say: "In general, things are going really well. He makes us laugh every day with his antics and we all just adore him. He's very much made the house his home and is getting on well with the dog. If he's awake, the...n he's with us. If we don't know where he is, we turn on a tap and he shows up. It's very funny." We love when folks embrace their pets quirks! We love your updates - please continue to send them!

A fun shelter "first"! Check out the very first cats to enter our Cat Group Room! They were giving it the complete once over and very quickly decided it was the perfect place to party -- and call home temporarily. It felt so amazing to see cats enter a space and feel immediately at home rather than fearful. Exploring rather than hiding. This great space and its furnishings (thank you CRIJO Pet Products!) was like an installation art piece, you couldn't walk by and not get sucked into watching all the fun that was going on inside! The only thing missing is the Petcube camera that will soon be installed, allowing all of you to watch the cats in our Group Room any time you want!

This sweet young thang is Tess! Tess is about a year old and craves attention! Her medium length coat is soft and silky and her gentle nature makes her a winner! She was housed with a male cat and might like a pal. Although she wouldn’t mind having all the attention to herself! ... If you’re interested in adopting Tess, fill out an application on our website!
