Due to the resignation of board member Mr. Corey Barberie, the San Marino Unified School District currently has a vacancy on its Board of Education until the next San Marino Unified School District regular election scheduled to be held on November 8, 2022. At the May 11, 2021 Board of Education Meeting, the Board voted to initiate filling the vacancy by a provisional appointment from among qualified applicants. The Board is requesting all those interested in serving on the school board to submit an application. The application is available at www.smusd.us from May 18, 2021 at Noon through Friday, June 4, 2021 at noon. See full press release at https://conta.cc/3tYU9gu

Dear San Marino Community, It is with a combination of sadness and excitement that I announce to our community and District staff that the Claremont Unified Board of Trustees is poised to name me as their new Superintendent of Schools upon final Board approval at their regular meeting on May 6, 2021. I did not initially seek out this opportunity and have not taken the decision to move to CUSD lightly. I have come to realize that this is the right decision and pathway for me... and for my family moving forward. In my two years of service to the SMUSD, I have had the opportunity to build a wonderful leadership team who will now sustain the District in the coming months and years. I want to thank my three Board Presidents, Lisa Link, Joseph Chang, and Shelley Ryan, for their unwavering support of my leadership of SMUSD and I also want to thank our current Board for their commitment to our students and community. I also want to thank our PTA, especially the two Council Presidents I was fortunate to work with -- Michiko Lee and Kathryn Oliveros. I will remain Superintendent through the end of the school year and will take over leadership of Claremont on July 1, 2021. Thank you. Dr. Jeff Wilson, Superintendent
