Today marks the anniversary of President Truman signing the Armed Services Integration Act in 1948, granting women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the armed forces. Women have served in America's wars and conflicts since the revolution. During WWI, 35,000 women served as nurses and support staff. There are nearly two million women Veterans in America today. At SJVV, we're honored to to serve Veterans in the Central Valley. Whether it's providing transition...al housing through programs like Homefront and Veteran's Plaza, or linkage to services like Operation MOVE in Stockton, we support and celebrate Veterans. Today, we're proud to recognize the service of women in the armed forces.
