HAPPY NEW YEAR! To start off the new year, I’d like to reintroduce myself! I’m happy to see a lot of new people following this page, and wanted to let you kno...w a little about who’s running it! . . My name is Maureen Lemos This photo captures me in one of my very happiest places... at the dairy, camera in hand, and spending time with my favorite cow, Clarice. I personally raised this girl, and she recently had her first heifer calf (Mitzi) and is now in the milk string! (You’ll see her and her cute little calf appear often on our page) . . I’m a Dairy Owner, Professional Photographer, Photography Instructor, Mom of 4, Mother in law to 2, Marmie (grandmother) to 2, and am the happiest when my family is together I live in a small town (which I love) and stay very busy with the dairies and my photography businesses, as well as volunteering in my community and church as much as possible. . . A little about Lockwood III Dairy... My husband is a third generation dairy farmer in his family, and has worked on the family farm his entire life. I became a part of all of this 36 years ago, when I met the ‘boy next door’. That’s right, I lived on the next ranch over! Needless to say, I fell in love with not only the Dairyman, but also the industry . . I’ve always loved teaching, from homeschooling my kids, to teaching Photography at several schools, to leading out tours on our dairies. There is so much to learn and teach in the dairy industry, and I love being given the opportunity to share! There’s a lot of misinformation out there these days... Thankfully, you have easy access to ASK A FARMER, when you have a question! There are so many wonderful dairy families sharing their stories on social media, and readily accessible to answer those questions! . . I am so proud to say that our 4th generation Dairyman son, Nevin, has already owned and operated his own dairy, Lemos Jerseys for 2 1/2 years, and is milking 400 Jerseys. (5 miles away) . . We run two family farms... We work hard, and firmly believe in doing our very best to be consistent in providing a high quality product, and caring for the animals and land entrusted to us. . . I hope you enjoy following along, as we share our California Dairy Family story! . . #CADairy #UndeniablyDairy #whywedairy #happynewyear #askafarmer #californiadairystory #lovewhatwedo #returntoreal #farmfamily #workinghard #dairyfamily #clarice #redandwhiteholstein #realcalifornia #realcalifmilk #pinkboots See more

California ain’t all beaches, palm trees and movie stars. Dairy families play a vital role in Tulare County agriculture and our communities.

New research published in the Journal of Dairy Science finds the climate footprint of milk production in California has been significantly reduced over the past... 50 years (1964 to 2014). The amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced per unit of milk was reduced by more than 45 percent. Additionally, the amount of water used per unit of milk produced has decreased more than 88 percent, primarily due to improved feed crop production and water use efficiency. Click to learn more!
