Our heart and appreciation goes to Stockton Waste Management workers who have and always been there to serve our communities! Today at 4am, Renee Elliott, Jacob... Houtekamer and I were able to greet and witness essential workers preparing to start their shifts for the day. Later in the day, Jacob greeted and thanks evening shift workers. It is an honor to have heroes such as Waste Management workers who have our backs daily. Friends and family With great sadness, I’m sorry to inform you that we lost our friend and brother Samir Kharufeh. After his long-fought health related battle..., Sam passed away late last week. Sam has been the leader of our council for almost Five years. This is a Huge loss for our council as Sam will always be remembered for his leadership and always fighting for the working men and women in construction. One thing that Sam always stressed to us was that you work for your family. I know Sam lived this mantra day in and day out, Sam always smiled the most when telling stories about his Wife Guisella, Daughter Leila and Son Ali with their accomplishments in life. Sam will always be remembered as a true Union man who would give the shirt off his back to help the Union membership. Sam we will miss your leadership, and we WILL continue the success of this Building Trades Council that you left us. We will not stop fighting and every day that we continue to win, we know you will be cheering us on. To honor Sam and his Legacy, we will be naming our Scholarship, The Sam Kharufeh Memorial Toolbox Scholarship. We will miss you brother.
