I look at people as children of God and know that we are more than just the crisis and problems that we present to the world, she says. We can give people the services they need, and we can restore their hope. Meet SFTS alum Julie Craig ’02 (M.Div.), a registered nurse in behavioral health. She turned to nursing after years as an ordained pastor, applying her compassion and ministry in new ways. She sees how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting patients in her Oconomowoc, W...isconsin, hospital and the toll it’s taking on mental health Read More https://www.redlands.edu//oc/restoring-hope-in-a-pandemic/ See more

We honor all those who have served this Veteran’s Day! Shout out to SFTS alum and current student Stewart Perrilliat, who was a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps. What is this intrepid veteran in service to now?! Stewart has earned his MATS, and is currently working on a Doctorate in Executive Leadership. He is also an ordained clergy member of Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, CA. And with our great admiration and appreciation, he is now leading Man 2 Man Urban Youth Advocate non-profit, focusing on Fatherhood Advocacy Support & Training, especially with fathers and grandfathers at San Quentin https://www.man2man-uya.org/

CATCH A COOL PODCAST! Current DMin student Rev. Allen O’Brien is interviewed on The Meaning Movement on the topic of Identity, Change, and Religious Trauma. When asked how he talks about his work in the world, O’Brien responds with I always start off with listening because I think that’s probably the biggest part of my job. I’m at a church in Redding, California, a United Church of Christ, and I’m the minister there. And I established a nonprofit with some friends that help...s people through faith transitions and shifting ideas around communities and faith and spirituality. Right now I’m a student in San Francisco Theological Seminary, University of Redlands, and studying. I’m specifically studying like high control religious environments and what it’s like to leave those and coping with life afterward. And and I’m also really active in like immigration, justice and a lot of different things. So I think it’s hard to answer that question about what I do, but I think most of it is listening. We are sending blessed appreciation to Sue Gibbons ’04 (DASD) for her recent bequest for SFTS and its Endowment for Christian Spirituality! I have such deep gratitude, and I wanted to return that gratitude in this way, shares Gibbons, who is the first individual to be inducted into the Montgomery Legacy Society since SFTS became part of the University of Redlands. I have thoroughly valued my relationship with SFTS, she says. There is a deep sense of satisfaction in supporting what I think the world needs. https://www.redlands.edu//bringing-the-heart-and-mind-tog/
