Friends and Colleagues!! Do any of you work with sex workers or care about sex workers having access to mental health? Please read and make a phone call. There is a bill (SB-1204) that would make it a felony to give condoms to sex workers, and it would be a felony for me to have on my website that I support sex workers with therapy. ... This is a dangerous bill that will severely negatively impact many people. The date to call in and leave a comment has been moved back to 4/17 because they have received so many calls already. Please call! It takes 2 minutes and a very nice human answers the phone. All you need to say is: "I am calling to tell Nancy Skinner that I oppose SB 1204" and if you want you can add something about why, but it is really that simple. To further support, please repost this to your Facebook page: "Please support those you love in the sex industry and the organizations that are serving sex workers such as St. James Infirmary and Red Light Legal! Right now CA is trying to pass a bill that changes the definition of pandering to make it a felony to provide any help or outreach to sex workers such as condoms, know your rights pamphlets, any kind of mentoring/advice or harm reduction will be a felony. This bill (and FOSTA/SESTA) will literally mean life and death for a lot of people who are just trying to survive. It's super super important to PLEASE CALL Nancy Skinner who is chair of the CA state committee to let her know you oppose SB 1204!" (510) 286-1333 (local office) (916) 651-4009
