If you saw our production of Rigoletto back in 2019, then you surely remember the Company debut of Alisa Jordheim Cohen who sang the role of Gilda. San Diego Story said "I have never heard a more confident, beautifully shaped Caro nome, Gilda's defining cameo aria, and Jordheim's poise throughout the opera gave Rigoletto's sheltered daughter an unflinching definition of self-awareness that is rare in this role..." We couldn't agree more. So we're super excited that Alisa is c...Continue reading

"San Diego Opera’s bold solution to presenting live opera to an on-site audience proved far more successful than I imagined possible. I found this production of La bohème as moving as any traditional full-length presentation I have encounteredin some ways even more effective because the opera’s dramatic arc has been so intensely focused." https://sandiegostory.com/san-diego-operas-drive-in-la-boh/ Parking spaces are still available for our socially distanced, drive-in, LA BOHEME. Three performances remain >>> https://bit.ly/CARBOHEME

While we've been busy planning in-person opera with our drive-in LA BOHEME, we've also been busy in the virtual world with a partnership with ADA Artist Management, Austin Opera, Berkshire Opera Festival, Minnesota Opera, and Opera Colorado for the World Premiere of THE TRIAL OF SUSAN B. ANTHONY which premieres tonight, October 26 at 5 PM local time, 7 PM Central. Mezzo-soprano Adriana Zabala (heard locally as Paula in FLORENCIA EN EL AMAZONAS) stars in the world premiere o...f Steven Mark Kohn’s song cycle The Trial of Susan B. Anthony. Ms. Zabala plays multiple roles, including the judge, the prosecuting and defense attorneys, a witness, and Susan B. Anthony herself in this seven-movement piece outlining the activist’s quest for justice. She will be accompanied by pianist Myra Huang. This premiere comes amidst the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, inviting conversation about this milestone of democracy, along with the work that remains to achieve gender and racial equity. The 30-minute program will premiere on ADA’s YouTube channel on Monday, October 26 at 7:00 P.M. Central, and will continue to be available on that platform until November 8 at 11:59 p.m. Following the World Premiere, stay for a LIVE Talkback moderated by tenor Lawrence Brownlee. https://www.youtube.com/c/ADAArtistManagement/featured

David on the Break It Down Show! Tune in.
LA BOHEME is up on stage. It's magical, it's incredibly well sung, and it's also a little surreal. It's opera in a parking lot, both incredibly familiar, and totally alien, and sums up exactly how much the world has changed in a year. Last night we were really struck with the realization that this is the new normal. At least for now. We hope you can join us for this bold and beautiful experiment, and come together as a community, while remaining safely apart. LA BOHEME opens Saturday. Tickets are on sale >>> https://bit.ly/CARBOHEME
Hello old friend. It's good to have you back. Live opera returns on Saturday with socially-distanced drive-in performances of LA BOHEME. Parking spaces still on sale >>> https://bit.ly/CARBOHEME
2AM Burrito sat down with singer Colin Ramsey to talk about our drive-in LA BOHEME, singing, and the importance of arts in our world. You can check out the interview below and since it's a tech week you better believe a 2AM burrito is our future tonight. Thanks for having us, Luis.
This weekend we conducted our final "room" run of LA BOHEME in the Kroc Center Parking Lot in La Mesa where we had been rehearsing all week. This was the last opportunity we had to check blocking and balance before moving rehearsals onto the Pechanga Arena Stage where we will prepare for opening night by adding costumes, lighting, makeup, and the San Diego Symphony. Our Drive-In LA BOHEME opens on Saturday, October 24 and parking spaces are still available >>> https://bit.ly/CARBOHEME
