Congratulations to the talented Brendan Dallaire on graduating from high school! Brendan joined our SDMT family for our productions of All Shook Up and Freaky Friday. On his time at SDMT, he says, My first experience at SDMT was in the musical theatre camps which helped take my game to the next level, particularly with dance and acting. Doing productions with SDMT taught me about professionalism and bringing 100% to every rehearsal and every performance. Working with professional actors in All Shook Up was inspiring, exciting, and educational. I will never forget my time with SDMT - what a great group of professionals and wonderful people!! Congratulations to our very own Mia Sydney on graduating from high school! Mia joined our SDMT family for our productions of Bring It On, Freaky Friday, and Stars Under the Stars: Rising Stars! On her time at SDMT, she says, SDMT played a pivotal role in my experience leading up to college. Not only have I learned game-changer lessons during each masterclass, audition, and show, but I’ve also found a community within the company. I feel like I’m a part of the family at SDMT, and I cannot wait to come back after college to work with this family some more! Next, she will be studying Acting at Boston University. We are thrilled to announce our new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Consultant - Kimberly King! Ms. King is a San Diego native, and 25 year veteran elementary school teacher with the South Bay Union School District’s Visual and Performing Arts Program. Ms. King is proud to serve in the San Diego theatre community on the San Diego Junior Theatre Board of Trustees as Education Chair, and at the Old Globe Theatre as a Teaching Artist, a 4-time dramaturge for the San Diego R...epertory Theatre and Co-Curator for their Black Voices Reading Series, 2021. Ms. King performed musically in the mid-1980’s, but more recently has been seen in Our Lady of Kibeho, at the Moxie, and in the Coronado Playhouse production of James and the Giant Peach in the role of Ladahlord. As SDMT's DEI Consultant, she will guide the continued education and implementation of Anti-Racist and Anti-Bias strategies to uncover and work to correct any inequalities that exist within the organizational structure now or in the future. San Diego Musical Theatre and their entire organization are thrilled to be taking the next steps toward active allyship by having Ms. King join our team to continue our growth, introspection and evolution.
