"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." ~ Martin Luther King Jr. We are grateful to everyone who is building on MLK's legacy by taking action. The fight against racism is NOW. It is our fight

Yesterday, these young activists presented their resolution calling on Governor Newsom to end oil extraction in California to the SD Unified School Board, and it passed unanimously! Because of their hard work, the 2nd largest school district in the state is officially speaking up against fossil fuels and committing to taking its own steps to combat climate change! See below for some more quotes from these amazing students.

Update: The mayor announced today that the franchise bids were determined to be unresponsive based on the extensive exceptions contained to the material terms of the advertised franchises. Therefore the ITB is canceled and the mayor will seek an extension. Thanks to everyone who called in to the council meeting Thursday!

If only 12% of COVID stimulus funding pledged to date were spent every year through 2024 on low-carbon energy investments and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, we would be able to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees C, according to a new paper in the journal science.
