Free Rein Foundation Hug & Groom Event to support our rescued horses. Each month join us https://freereinfoundation.org/events/

Free Rein Foundation 03.03.2021

We are very excited to introduce our very own ecotour! Here is what one of our first groups had to say about it. We went on a tour of Free Rein horse stables yesterday. We got to meet their rescue horses, hear their stories, and then got a guided tour through the Urban Forest in HB. It was a great Covid conscious experience and supports a great cause You can book your own experience now on our website (https://freereintours.com)! #horseshealinghumans #equinetherapy #ShowYourHBLove #HBecotours #cometotherescue #freereinfoundation #hcpec

We love our amazing volunteers! Everybody say hello to Sam and see what he has to say about Free Rein! I love volunteering at Free Rein because the people here are kind and helpful. I have been working with a horse named Bella. She is learning to trust me and I am learning to trust her. Free Rein Foundation is a place where people and horses can work together to make the world a better place #horseshealinghumans #equinetherapy #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Free Rein Foundation is very excited to share another side of Huntington Beach with our city’s visitors, thanks to our new partnership with Surf City USA! I think the horses might be more excited than us. Just look at this picture! Meet Kristen, a certified PEFM therapist. She is treating Duchess to help with any swelling or stiffness she might be experiencing. Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is the process of sending a low-energy electrical current to a specific area of a horse’s body. This therapy has the ability to reach deep below the surface and address concerns on a cellular level. #equinetherapy #horseshealinghumans #pemftherapy #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Thank you Douglas for patiently working with Bella to get her more comfortable with a spray bottle. Might look like a small step, but it is actually very important and a big milestone. #equinetherapy #horseshealinghumans #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Congratulations to our very own Governor! He found a forever home with Maddie, a volunteer, not too far away from Free Rein Foundation. He’s been a great horse with us and we are so excited what the future will look like for them. Congratulations! You will be a great mom to him #equinetherapy #horseshealinghumans #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Free Rein Foundation 05.09.2020

We are saddened to share with everyone that Tee was put to rest this morning. We noticed Tee struggling and called our vet right away. Symptoms showed that Tee had a broken shoulder. We wanted the least amount of suffering and sadly with all his friends nearby he was put down. Tee has been a beautiful friend to Free Rein. He has healed people suffering from difficult life experiences, filled our volunteers with joy and befriended the herd. We will miss you so much Tee! He may be gone but he will never be forgotten

Have you ever wondered what we do to make sure our horses stay healthy? Well here is your opportunity to see how we check the horse’s heart rate, temperature and breaths per minute. At a time when police across the U.S. are facing a crisis of legitimacy we would like to share a heartwarming story about how officers of the LAPD Headquarters are helping kids living in some of the most underserved communities in California. A huge thank you and kudos to Chief Michael Moore for his dedication to building positive community relationships! Free Rein Foundation has a fantastic partnership with the LAPD and the officers from the LAPD 77th Street Community Pol...ice Station. These officers are very active in their community to help youth in one of the of most violent areas in Los Angeles. Where gangs, robberies, drug use and homelessness are rampant, the LAPD is making sure kids have the tools they need to be successful members of their community. To help kids who have been pushed to the side, officers bring them to Free Rein Foundation for 8-week sessions with our horses and @Eagala equine therapy team to learn how to cope with difficult life situations, trust in others, and essential communication skills. Recently, Cody Broadway from NBClx spent a day with us at the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center and officers Robert Arcos (@LAPD_arcos), Al Labrad (@labradaAI), and Captain Emada E. Tingirides (@LAPDETingirides) , to learn how Free Rein Foundation the LAPD are working together to improve lives and communities. The NBC LX segment will broadcast this coming Thursday, August 6th. We’ll post a link to the segment once it's live and you can also watch on our Free Rein Foundation YouTube Channel soon!

On Saturday, Free Rein Foundation had an exciting day (socially distanced of course). NBC LX came to HCPEC to film our volunteers and LAPD 77th, highlighting all of the amazing things we do. Free Rein Foundation is a program that builds stronger communities by bringing together police officers and kids. They work together to learn new life skills, tolerance, understanding and building trust. This is all done with a seasoned team of therapists and using the EAGALA model. #horseshealinghumans #equinetherapy #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Howdy there, my name is Duke. I will be three this year! I came from the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in South Dakota and found my new home at the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center in early June 2019. I was a fit contender in the Trainer Mustang Challenge and enjoyed sunny days running about in the turnout. My trainer, Kimberly Foy, gave me the best baths and made sure my mane and tail were always shiny. I don’t mind the dirt, but I’d rather look good for the ladies. I’m going to ask Chica to go out on a date with me soon. #dapperduke #horseoftheweek #equinetherapy #horseshelpinghumans #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Hi there, I’m Governor! Don’t listen to old Boss, he just needs to have some more fun like me. He is like a big brother to me, being that we are only a few years apart and that we came all the way from Modoc National Forest together. Since being at the HCPEC, I’ve had the most fun time! I love meeting new people and especially love working with beginner riders - as I am a beginner myself! I self-proclaim myself as Governor around here since I’m friendly and social. I know just about everyone there is to know around here! #graciousgovernor #horseoftheweek #horseshelpinghumans #huntingtonbeach #freereinfoundation #hcpec

Why hello! I’m Chica and I am three years old. I came from Nevada with my gal pal [Sandra] as a yearling and have been loving every minute of being at the HCPEC. The boys really think they have me all figured out, but truth be told I have each of them wrapped around my hooves! Whenever they pass by, I bat my eyelashes and smile real big. I can’t help but be myself charm is what I’ve got and I’m not afraid to flaunt it! #charmingchica #horseoftheweek #horseshelpinghumans #equinetherapy #huntingtonbeach #freerein #hcpec

We had our Zoom Volunteer call at 10 am this week. Lots of changes and it was decided to keep the 10am Wed time moving forward. Sadly, the video got corrupted and the tech folks were not able to fix it but we did find a workaround for all the other calls.

I went wherever I could that wasn’t there. Most of the time, though, I came here. I sheltered in place, but I kept looking for somewhere or something else. I’m not sure I knew, until you, that it was more than that for me, more than sheltering in place. It was my place, my home. Nora Roberts, Shelter in Place #horseshelpinghumans

Our Zooming Free Rein Foundation Life! Back at the pasture, Laura Melton and Bridgette Radzi set up a table with a laptop to meet with the volunteer team for our weekly Zoom Call Update. Gloves and masks in place they were joined by anxious volunteers who are missing their work in the pasture. Mucking, lunging, and enjoying the dryer weather. New processes are making things harder with the smaller crew. New people will be introduced next week. This week t...hey were joined by horses, Bella and Tee, who were a bit curious about the laptop, but more intent on getting inside the crypto container they were sitting on! Thank you for bringing the pasture to life during our shelter-in-place! See more
