Your brain is importantkeep it healthy! These habits can make a big difference down the road. We know, we knowdementia and Alzheimer’s disease are things old people have to worry about. But actually, the habits you develop now may help protect your brain from these conditions years from now!... Here are four ways you can protect your brain: 1. Healthy Diet The Word of Wisdom is an amazing tool Heavenly Father has given us. Follow it and eat lots of healthy fruits, vegetables, and grains. Illegal drugs kill brain cellsstay away from them! 2. Physical Activity Being physically active helps control blood pressure, blood sugar, stress, and inflammation. It also improves sleep and boosts energy and hormones. We are still learning about how all of these things boost brain health. 3. Mental Activity The brain is a use-it-or-lose-it organ in a lot of ways. Stay sharp by making learning a habit. Practice sharing what you learn with others. 4. Social Interactions Yes, being socialespecially talking to someone one-on-onehelps maintain your mental health!

Dear Highlands Ward, Thank you to those who signed in to share in this year’s virtual Primary program. Since there were some technical difficulties with the Primary choir portion of the program, I would like to share that part of the program with you now. I hope you will be able to feel the sweet spirit of the children. Additionally, I would like to give a special thank you to Brother Walt Terry for not only producing the virtual choir videos..., but also creating the attached Primary Virtual Choir Banner to make sharing the videos easier. Warmly, Shirley Schweigl Primary President

We Will Prove Them Herewith Excerpts from Elder David A. Bednar’s October 2020 general conference message The year 2020 has been marked by a global pandemic that has proved, examined, and tried us in many ways. I pray that we as individuals and families are learning the valuable lessons that only challenging experiences can teach us. I also hope that all of us will more fully acknowledge the greatness of God and the truth that he shall consecrate [our] afflictions for [o...ur] gain [2 Nephi 2:2]. Two basic principles can guide and strengthen us as we face proving and trying circumstances in our lives, whatever they may be: (1) the principle of preparation and (2) the principle of pressing forward with a steadfastness in Christ. Our efforts to prepare for the proving experiences of mortality should follow the example of the Savior, who incrementally increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man [Luke 2:52]a blended balance of intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social readiness. What have we learned during these recent months of lifestyle adjustments and restrictions? What do we need to improve in our lives spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually? Now is the time to prepare and prove ourselves willing and able to do all things whatsoever the Lord our God shall command us. As we press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men [2 Nephi 31:20], we are blessed with an eternal perspective and vision that stretches far beyond our limited mortal capacity. The process of proving ourselves is a fundamental part of Heavenly Father’s great plan of happiness. I promise that as we both prepare and press forward with faith in the Savior, we all can receive the same grade on the ultimate examination of mortality: Well done, thou good and faithful servant [Matthew 25:21]. Note: This excerpt originated in the November 2020 issue of the New Era.
