#repost from @ndvhofficial Today is #WearPurpleDay! Wear Purple Day is a day to raise awareness on social media about domestic violence by all wearing one unified color. Join the domestic violence movement in this annual tradition of reducing stigma around domestic violence, showing survivors that they are not alone, and working for greater safety and equity. Whether you’re wearing a purple item of clothing, drawing on your hand with purple highlighter, or using a purple... filter on a photo, post your photo to demonstrate solidarity with domestic violence survivors using #DVAM and #WearPurpleDay. Together, we can show survivors that they are not alone!

It takes all kinds of members of the community to end violence. A major part of the equation are our Law Enforcement partners. Without the men and women who respond to emergency calls, arrest violent criminals, and more, we would not be able to do much of our work advocating for survivors. Recently, we went out into the community to thank our Law Enforcement partners for all their work and support.

#repost @mentalhealthamerica Today is World Mental Health Day! Though 1 in 5 people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime, 5 in 5 people deal with experiences that impact their mental health. Recognizing that mental health IS health will be key in normalizing the conversation around mental health and wellness. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WMHD20 #WMHD
Today we received a visit from Morongo Basin Sexual Assault Services, who delivered a care package to our officers. Morongo Basin Sexual Assault Services is one... of our many partners in the area that offers numerous services to victims of sexual assault and abuse. Myth: People with mental health problems are violent and unpredictable. Fact: The vast majority of people with mental health problems are no more likely to be violent than anyone else. Most people with mental illness are not violent and only 35% of violent acts can be attributed to individuals living with a serious mental illness. In fact, people with severe mental illnesses are over 10 times more likely to be victims of violent crime than the general population. You probabl...y know someone with a mental health problem and don't even realize it, because many people with mental health problems are highly active and productive members of our communities. : @samhsagov : @laurajaneillustrations #worldmentalhealthday #worldmentalhealthday2020
This week we have been stopping by our local law enforcement stations to drop off goodie bags with informational cards inside for how they can reach us safely during this time filled by the unknown. We do know one thing for sure, we will always be here to support survivors! Keep an eye out for more photos next week! #SupportSurvivors #AdvocatesAreEssential #LawEnforcementPartners
