Often, students that are currently taking Japanese at their local high school program will opt to also take our classes to get that additional needed assistance in mastering Japanese. Our courses cover a wide variety of additional topics -- including test preparation for the JLPT, SAT-Japanese, and the AP Japanese test. We are still taking registrations now. https://sakuragakuen.org/saturday-youth-classes-are-now-en/

While the physical bazaar at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento may have been cancelled, an online FB Live version will be on August 8, 2020 to help highlight the community that enjoys the Church's facilities -- including Sakura Gakuen. Please check the event out. Thanks, all for your ongoing support!

Based on the guidance from the state regarding educational facilities and COVID-19, it looks likely that we'll be doing online classes again. Our Sensei are hard at work developing new curriculum for the upcoming Fall Term for more interactive educational opportunities. Please stay tuned.

Sakura Gakuen Announcement: Dear Sakura Gakuen Students, Sensei, and Friends, We hope you are doing well during these remarkable times. As you know, in response to health concerns, our March classes had to be suddenly cancelled and all our classes began the transition to online, distance learning using email, Zoom, and Google Classrooms as our Sensei scrambled to change their curriculum to match.... We had hoped to re-open Sakura Gakuen for in-person classes at our host institution The Buddhist Church of Sacramento in April 2020, but as you know the COVID 19 situation continues to evolve. The BCS made the decision to remain closed through June, as well as cancel their annual Bazaar and Obon festivities. In light of this, the Sakura Gakuen Board of Trustees has made the following decisions that we hope will best serve our Community during this period of social, academic, and economic challenges. All in-person adult and youth classes for the Sakura Gakuen 2020 Spring Term have been cancelled. Classes will continue to be available through the end of term for weekly, online distance learning taught by the students’ current Sensei. This is not ideal. And in recognition of this and understanding the economic impact shelter in place edicts have placed on our Community, we will extend full tuition reimbursement for the 2020 Spring Term to any student / parent that makes a request. Adult students can submit a request to Adult Dean Masako Thomas Sensei via email ([email protected]) or through Google Foms (http://bit.ly/SGHaru20Adult) Youth students / parents can submit a request to PTC President Ben Wadsworth via email ([email protected]) or through Google Forms (http://bit.ly/SGHaru20Youth) All Sensei will be paid for classes and online training through the end of the term. Sensei will be provided training to encourage a variety of different medium (e.g. Zoom, Google Classroom, email, etc.) for class. All volunteer requirements for the Spring Term will be considered fulfilled for Youth classes. Fall Term 2021 classes will be finalized in the upcoming months. Please stay tuned to our website and FB pages for more information. Thanks to everyone for your patience and consideration during this very difficult time. We appreciate the strength of our community and look forward to seeing you all back in school when classes resume. Best wishes. The Sakura Gakuen School Board of 2019-20

Our delivery this morning was a bit delayed due to the weather this week. Our mandarins from Side Hill Citrus are here at the school now for pickup. Thanks for the understanding.
